Kay Bakery — Restaurant in Memphis

I was extremely disappointed in the cake I picked up! It's supposed to be chocolate with rasberry filling. The Spanish man who took my order for the half sheet was very detailed and courteous. At least I thought so until I picked it up. I requested a cake with NO Flowers it was supposed to be simple. The details I asked for was an Eifel tower, the number 60, and my name all in the middle of the round circle of white sea shells. I clearly went over the details more than three times. I told him no mistakes and I wanted buttercream frosting in tan, the letters in dark chocolate, and the white circle of sea shells surrounded it all. Also I wanted the white to be on the bottom of the tan cake. Just a smooth frosted cake, nothing in the empty spaces, nothing girly, no flowers. He asked me if I wanted anything else in the blank area and I insisted, NOTHING, leave it blank and over and over again I stressed chocolate cake with rasberry filling. Rasberry filling! He kept my cake receipt because I drew what I wanted it to look like, on the back of that cake. Then we discussed the cookies for the children. All I wanted was the Eiffel tower and the number 60 and my name. He told me not to worry he was going to be making my cake himself so he could make sure there was no mistakes. So, today I have my son and daughter in law and her daughter come with me to pickup the cake and cookies. I only wish I could show you the pictures. But I posted them on FB, my page if you want to see just IM me. The cake looked like it was homemade by the children! It had pink frosting. I hate girly, pink is not tan. It had no rasberry filling, one layer, no sea shells in the middle of the the cake in a surrounding area, with the name Paris number 60 and the Eifel tower. All that was surrounded by a dark brown skinny black looking marker, circle. I'm like where's the rasberry filling and why is there FLOWERS? Remember I said nothing girly that's not me! He denies that I requested rasberry filling and he didn't ever write down the details of what I wanted! Ugh! I wanted to pickup the cake and throw it in his face! His attitude was idiot! Yes, he actually acted like he was handicap at this point and offers to make me a round cake with raspberry filling right there! Seriously? I just told my son let's take it and go! Why would I pay for a half sheet cake with nothing in it for $54, when I can get that half sheet plain and simple cake from Kroger and they would be cheaper and more professionally done? He's a dumb a...s! The back looked like numerous healthcode violations. I also bought these special cookies made! I requested frosting in pink on them and all the other details. Cookies I got.... No frosting and something that looked like he printed the picture of the Eifel tower printed out. I went outside and placed everything in the car and I began sobbing uncontrollably! My daughter in law went inside and pursad this man to give me a sum of $15 cash! Compensation was as cheap as his crappy cake. But, you know what? It...

I have purchased cakes from this bakery for many years but however tge last two times i’ve been very disappointed. My first order in the beginning of June I order a cake for a friend 51st birthday they put glitter all over cake which I didn’t ask for. When complained the daughter looks at me an tell me they couldn’t fix it but still wanting me to pay full price. Looking at me like take it or leave it. I had no choice but to pay cuz i was in a bind and i love their cakes. Next time i just purchase not one but two cakes i go an pick up the cakes the first cake they brought out was fine the second one i looked at it they had sprinkles all over this cake what the hell. Thats not what i asked for nor was it like the picture i sent. . Again the same lady i believe tge daughter comes out an say to me i didnt say i wanted pecans on cake. Clearly the carrot cake had pecans on the picture. I didnt ask for sprinkles either but you put them on my cake. Im telling her thats not what order and how are yall going to fix it. She replied all the decorators gone for tge day it cant be fix an just look at me like are u gonna pay for it or not. I had to get her to call their dad to explain im not gonna pay this time for y'all screw up. Then when i looked at the cake it’s smaller then the first cake but they supposed to be the same size now im really pissed. They wanted me to believe its the same size when it wasn’t but still wanting me to me to pay over$100 for a cake that wasnt right. She comes back and say we can fix it but its gonna take a minute. For customer service this place deserves negative stars! I cannot believe the kind of experience we got from this place. We ordered a white cake with gold writing and flowers this bakery happily accepted our order, the day come to pick up the cake and it's completely awful and barely gold at all! They had used yellow everywhere fo the flowers writing and trim. This was for my birthday party and I hate the color yellow. FYI yellow does now = Gold. Ever. If you could not make gold then that should have been discussed at the time of the order! Upon seeing the disaster cake we complained that it was completely wrong only to be told that it was "gold enough" and that we just wanted a discount and many other incredibly rude things. If we couldn't afford a $50 cake we would never have ordered a $50 cake! They took it back and sprinkled some bronze not gold filter all over the yellow and then said again tabtbthis was good enough. We were very unsatisfied with the entire experience! We wanted to have it scraped and make the flowers light pink or just white, anything but yellow but the manager refused and said the labor had already been done!!!! And then he told us that we just would like the shade of pink then if we had it changed! Wow! We truly cannot believe how offensive and rudely we were spoken to. For no reason! We just hated the work they did and they told us it was good enough. So don't expect to get what you order here, they give you what they think is good enough.......
