Zinnie's — Restaurant in Memphis

I’m a pretty longtime patron of Zinnies, and I’m loath to criticize. Things change, obviously. New owners. But I have to say my main criticism is that this reboot is too BRIGHT. There’s too much bar swag littering walls, and one gets the overwhelming feeling of being in some bro’s flourescently lit man cave. Wouldn’t be a difficult change to make at all, but it would make a huge difference as far as atmosphere. My opinion: keep it simple as you can—that’s what made the original Zinnies so great.

The vibe is good, the location is great and the place looks good. I do, however, have three problems that will likely keep me mostly away from this place. First, the cocktails are uninspiring and not potent enough. Second, they didn't have tonic for a gin & tonic--inexusable on a weekend. Third, there's nothing like a pool table, darts or anything else you can do...

Zinnie's is a pretty standard Memphis bar that allows smoking. They have five menu options if you're looking for food, and they have 50 cent wings on Mondays. I had their fries, which were okay but a bit dry. They have a golf machine in the back. Other than that, you're pretty much going there to drink. The bartender was super nice...
