Archibald’s Drive-Thru is quite the name, almost indicates that the bulk of their operation takes place through the drive up window. Considering that the inside of the place is quite impressive, and quite large. Large TV’s playing sport events, and a nice stereo playing rather cool tunes. This place probably sits quite a crowd. When I entered it was around 8:30 PM, and the place was empty, the big place all to myself. I also did not see any vehicles on the drive-thru. Not an auspicious introduction to Archibald’s. I think the name caught me, and the fact I never tried their food. Archibald’s is like a jack of all trades, with breakfast to hot dogs, to pastrami and their supposedly well appreciated burgers, and throw in Mexican fare, chicken wings, cold beer, a couple of gyros, chili, and a few desserts, etc. I ordered the Monster Burger, $7.89 before taxes. Came with avocado, tomato, lettuce, bacon, two hamburger patties, pickles, mayo, bun. Bun old, started breaking apart on its own, very mediocre quality. Meat dry and immediately regrettable. Bacon, some properly cooked, some almost tasted raw. My goodness, so big but so sad, too late by now. Can’t turn back the clock! 2 Stars. Next blunder: Burrito with Carne Asada, $7.79 plus tax. Their Mexican side did not deserve Mariachi music. Burrito filled with its own particular kind of retried beans. I think some rice was involved, and as far as the Carne Asada goes, like the old lady from the Burger King commercial: Where is the Beef!? Scandalous business practice, that several food places practice: they give you a fat burrito, but no more than 10 or 15 percent of meat. Carne Asada pre cooked, bland and cut in tiny pieces, no solid display of quality here, just a baboon of a burrito. What made it even worst was their salsa bar. Their Pico de Gallo version stale, not very appetizing. 2 Stars. Desauri? manager appeal, nice and helpful so she gets an additional ⭐️. Place looked good and clean, final bill almost $18. Archibald’s did not serve tasty...
Read moreI didn't have every high expectations because of the reviews I've read, but I love gourmet fries and I was very curious of their DUI fries. The drive-through line wasn't very long, but they were obviously understaffed (like every other business during COVID). When it was my turn to order, I was asked to wait one moment. One moment ended up being 5+ minutes of waiting with my window rolled down in 99 degree heat. I ended up rolling them back up until the cars in front of me started moving. At that point, it still took another minute or two before someone took my order. When I got to the window, there was another 5 minute wait before I got my food. I understand that places are understaffed and doing their best during COVID, but none of the staff acknowledged the long wait or apologized for it.
I ordered the DUI fries and the mango habañero wings. The food is on the pricey side, but I didn't think they were unreasonable. For the amount and the quality you get, it's not bad. The DUI fries didn't disappoint. I don't know that the addition of pastrami in fries does anything for me. To me, it was just there. Another meat to fill you up, but it didn't make the fries taste better or worse. The wings were pretty good, and they're bigger than the wings that come from other fastfood places so for me, that makes it worth the price.
I'll be coming back to try their other offerings but I will most likely pick a time other than the hottest time of the...
Read moreThe wings were really good. The fries were above average. It took a long time though.
Edit: I tried them again and have to tell y'all about it. I noticed as I was driving up that they had a sign in the drive-thru for a pizza for $9.99. I asked about that and they said they couldn't do it in the drive-thru because it takes too long. I get it, but last time they asked me to pull around and park so they could bring my food out to me. Couldn't they do that again? Sounds like they just didn't want to do it. Lazy staff. Then I asked if I could get an order of chicken strips by itself for my kids and they said they couldn't do it. We were having a hard time communicating through the low quality speaker they have and the employee asked me to pull up to the window to complete the order. When I did, they simply asked me for payment. I handed over my credit card and then double checked the receipt. They just charged me for the chicken strip combo which was over $12, if I remember correctly. It also came with a drink, which the employee did not ask if I wanted. I had to specifically request the drink that I had already paid for. The other item I ordered was a pastrami sandwich combo. The sandwich, combo, and drink cost $20. Now I know that with inflation things cost more, but for $20 that's crazy. The sandwich wasn't particularly large or tasty.
It's difficult to recommend that anyone...
