Wow! Phenomenal find in Menlo Park. Every single dish we had was excellent, and the butter chicken here might be the best I've ever had.
We started with Dahi Puri - it was delicious and refreshing. The mint and tamarind flavors were phenomenal.
For our mains, we got daal and butter chicken. The daal was excellent - it went beyond just being earthy and had a delicious blend of spices that made it savory and complex. However, the star of the show was definitely the butter chicken. Normally, butter chicken is decadent, rich, and creamy. However, I was pleasantly surprised again by just how much depth this chicken had. Not only did it feature the rich, tomato infused flavor that one expects from butter chicken, but there was a delicious floral and herby flavor from the herbs and spices that elevated this dish and cut through the creaminess to create a complex and complementing experience. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was deliciously tender.
Sides were also great - the garlic naan had an abundance of garlic and a delicious crisp on the outside.
Overall, I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a meal in Menlo Park. Phenomenal Indian food at a...
Read moreAs someone who loves exploring authentic flavors, Tilak in Menlo Park completely blew me away. Every single dish we tried was bursting with rich taste, fresh ingredients, and the perfect blend of spices.
The momo were hands down some of the best I’ve had—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly steamed. The tandoori chicken was incredibly well-marinated, smoky, and tender, with just the right amount of heat and depth of flavor.
Both the non-veg and veg items were top-notch. Whether it was a creamy curry or a vegetable dish, everything was cooked to perfection with a noticeable touch of authenticity you rarely find outside of South Asia. You could taste the freshness in every bite.
What made the experience even better was that our kids loved and thoroughly enjoyed the food too—which is rare! The mild spice options and variety of dishes made it perfect for the whole family.
On top of the amazing food, the service was attentive and welcoming. The team clearly takes pride in their work, and it shows.
If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful, and fresh Indian & Nepali cuisine, Tilak is a must-visit. This place sets...
Read moreFood is excellent. There are few impressive Indian restaurants in the area considering both price and quality. I cannot review the atmosphere as I always take out. But here is my two cents on the price and taste ...
First off, my standard was formed in the east coast: during my Ph.D in Cambridge, MA area 10 years ago. There, I could find a whole meal for less than $10 and tasted fantastic. Here, I never find an option for such price. My go to in the area is Dosa Point which offers some curry meal options for less than $20 (though they have a particular flavor as they describe in their website about the origin). Dabar is another option with higher price tag without satisfactory upgrade in the taste. Zareens is a nice take out place but the curry quality is not great (to me Zareens means naan wrap which is awesome).
Tilak, to me, is significantly better in taste and cheaper in price than Dabar. The taste is better (or I like it better) than Dosa Point. Unlike Dosa Point, Tilak offers main stream taste but just better quality. It has become my favorite Indian place in the area by far.
Highly...
