Park James Hotel — Hotel in Menlo Park

This used to be a great hotel. I’ve stayed here many times over the past few years and always had a great experience. And I completely understand the challenges facing the workers in the hospitality industry, and want to clearly state here that each and every employee here has been attentive, respectful, and genuinely dedicated to customer service. I do take great exception however with management and ownership of this property, who have allowed this to fall below any semblance of an acceptable accommodation, even for a property with a lesser reputation to uphold. Critical business video calls were repeatedly disrupted throughout my stay by completely unacceptably poor WiFi, which finally, after the 3rd instance of reaching out to staff to report, I was told that it simply doesn’t work well in certain rooms. Though despite the hotel being less than half full, they still chose to put people in said rooms. Fix this. It’s that simple. This is Silicon Valley. Pay to resolve WiFi issues so that every room is covered (like every other hotel I’ve ever stayed at for the past decade). Numerous other things in the room were malfunctioning/in disrepair. I’ll refrain from a litany of other issues, especially those which simply reflect an understaffed, overworked situation, which is understandably linked to pandemic issues. But I place the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of Mgmt, and until that changes, I will find somewhere else to stay in the area for the foreseeable future. Very pretty and instagrammable hotel. Unfortunately, service has been terrible. On check in, I asked the front desk to book a cab for me at 7:30 am - it never showed up. Front desk initially “did not see any cab request” until looking again - then found it. Told me, tough luck, you should call an Uber. Room amenities incomplete - coffee and tea had not been replenished when I checked in. Finally, I requested laundry services through their tablet, but forgot to fill out the form. This was for a single pair of jeans. They lost the pants, could not locate them, finally found them but didn’t call me. I called the front desk to follow up and ask what happened. “Not to put this on you, but the form wasn’t filled out.” (Person who took laundry did not check for form or ask btw and there was never any follow up until I inquired about the missing pants twice). I asked to speak with a manager to provide feedback about these issues - was told they will be available between 11-12 (after checkout).

This is for a hotel that cost $500/night.

If you want a trendy experience but don’t need the basic services or respect expected with a hotel, perhaps this place is for you.

Update from later in the morning before checkout: the coffee mate provided in the room curdled (? Didn’t know that was possible) in the coffee. I asked for a fresh batch and it happened again. I shared this info with the staff and was told they would inform...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Park James Hotel, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and outstanding service. The hotel’s chic and modern design immediately set a tone of sophistication and comfort.

One of the highlights of my stay was dining at the hotel’s restaurant. The food was delicious, and the presentation was impeccable. The staff was attentive and made excellent recommendations.

The fitness center was well-equipped and clean, allowing me to maintain my workout routine effortlessly. I also enjoyed the lovely outdoor spaces, perfect for unwinding after a busy day.
