0/5 stars all the way.
So I worked at the Dairy Queen in my home town and it was the one treat my family would get in the summer and drive around and just enjoy. So truthfully even though it’s a chain restaurant it does have a soft spot in my heart.
However! The last TWO times have been so horrible and have been anything but good and or positive experiences. The first I was so surprised by and the second time I forced myself to go (first time I wanted to cheer my son up and the other because we were dealing with a sick cat and super stressed). Were the absolute WORST customer service experiences I’ve ever had.
I do not complain about food ever. i never send things back. I have worked many years in the service industry before switching to working with the county/mental health. So for me to say something is very telling.
Experience 1.
The person that helped us was incredibly rude even though I went above and beyond to ask them how their night was going even with being very stressed and exhausted after dealing with the aforementioned sick cat and work. They were incredibly condescending and audibly sighed and sounded uninterested in anything I was saying. I got up to the window and said “hello how are you doin?” He proceeded to take my card and stare at me without saying a word.” Feeling incredibly awkward I decided to not engage until he handed me my card back and I said “thank you I hope your night gets less busy!” He rolled his eyes and slammed the window and did not say a SINGLE word the whole time I was at the window. So uncomfortable, unprovoked, and unprofessional.
Experience 2.
Tonight we decided to go get a blizzard since my sister was in town and my son was at his dad’s all weekend. We arrived to the restaurant and there was a small line but nothing too crazy. When we got up to the window I again tried to be as polite as possible as I know a lot of the people working there are on the younger side with not a ton of work experience. The girl at the window/speaker box was again incredibly rude and I could feel her annoyance through the speaker and my son and sister were like “why the heck are they acting so weird ?” Which I told them the initial story from above and informed them this was the first time I have been back since that my last trip was so awful and was hoping it would be better. It was not.
We got to the window and the girl did not even greet us or anything just proceeded to ask “cash or card?!” I went to take my card out and saw her grabbing a card reader on a stick/extender and seeming very annoyed by me using card so I said “oh I can do cash if that’s ea….” Before I could even finish my sentence the girl HIT the card reader on my car window pane and I was definitely taken back to the point where I just stared at her. She moved the reader and said “uhhh I didn’t damage that did I?” And I said “um I don’t think so but you might want to be careful when dealing with other peoples property”. She was quiet and went to get our ice cream and my son was now upset and said he felt bad for me and my sister was genuinely in shock and honestly pretty pissed. She handed us our ice cream and forced out a very agitated have a good night.
I again NEVER complain or talk down to service workers as I have so many friends that own businesses and also worked at many retail jobs a Dairy Queen included.
But these were hands down the worst experiences I have ever had.
I am on a calorie deficit so when I do get something fast food wise it’s ideally a nice little “treat” or because I’m stressed. These experiences genuinely made me feel worse after and this was anything but a nice thing for my family and I.
Both times I showed up at LEAST an hour before the 10pm closing time and was so beyond polite to the people working and was met with nothing but horrible attitudes and an incredibly awkward feeling.
I genuinely hope that the staff takes a drastic turn here with training or better work ethic encouraging talks because at this point I will not be going back for a very long time.

Read moreThere is no words! Absolutely the worst service and food we have ever had! Waited 10 minutes to even order our food. We waited another 10 minutes to get our sodas and sundaes! Went to the second drive thru to wait for our food and waited 14 minutes to get part of our order! When handed our food, I asked if that was everything, she assured me it was. We ordered 4 $7 meal deals and only received 1 order of fries. I backed up in the drive thru, even honked my horn and had to knock on the window for anyone to come assist me. Told her we were missing 3 orders of fries, she said to pull up to the next window so we did. We sat there an additional 7 minutes, til I had to call and ask if we would be receiving our 3 orders of fries. Was told they were busy making food for door dash! What a joke! Before we even left Dairy Queen our sundaes were completely melted, our other food was cold and hoping our fries would be warm by time we got home, they were absolutely cold and gross! To top it off, our burgers were burnt and disgusting! Chicken strips were literally the size of my 12 year olds finger! The thing that ticked me off the worst is seeing an employee sitting on their phone on a bucket drinking a shake! You have great employees! NOT! As a family we will never eat...
Read moreThe only reason I ever had to endure the long wait times and poor service is to get a side of delicious flamethrower sauce to dip my fries in. Was told today they no longer can do that. Its not a company policy, as I've never had a problem anywhere before when they charge you 75 cents or whatever for a little cup of the sauce, so for whatever reason the owner of this specific store chose not to offer this incredibly simple option.
There is now no reason to ever go here, since anything else on their menu can be had at culvers without the bad attitude. Seeing as how this location is constantly closed anyway it may be a sign they are finally circling the drain. Hopefully whoever buys it after the current owner files for bankruptcy has the decency to train their staff in basic customer service, and offer the simple task of squirting some sauce into a cup.
Let me know when it's under...
