I have updated this review to reflect my most recent experience. It wasnt good at all. The taste was off, the menu has changed, prices have increased, portions less and the food was terrible, chips stale and not good service.

Oh! Now its $1 to get a refill on tortilla chips!

The place was not busy as usual. (Wonder why) There goes another spot. You start raising prices and giving less, you’re done…

Those that follow my reviews know that I am very picky about the places I dine at. You have to be because the quality and customer service is non existent. I seldom will leave a five star review unless the business is of stellar quality. Don Tequila’s in Mentor is STELLAR, Americanized Mexican. The best in our area for sure. Everyrhing appears to be of fresh ingredients, made on site daily. The service is outstanding, refills on drinks, chips and salsa just appear. Super HOT and fresh food. Very clean facility all-around. I highly recommend it. Its always busy but is worth any wait.

Ok, that being said (this doesnt affect my rating) I do have two requests:

Please make a salsa without cilantro and lower the price of cheese sauce. $5.00...

Eaten here a few times, it's a very typical Mexican restaurant. Ordered lunch via their online ordering system recently, and it was not great. The online ordering system kept trying to have me sign up for an account (which was a pain). It did offer customizations, but the system itself was slow/disorganized. Went to the restaurant to pick up my online order, and the restaurant personnel told me their internet was down and they didn't receive the order. My card had already been charged so I had to show them my order summary via email. The front of house staff seemed annoyed that I was there and waiting for my order. They made it quickly, the customizations I had in my online order weren't fulfilled, but hey you get what you get. It's not a bad option for Mexican, but there are definitely better places with more friendly staff that actually care that they didn't fulfill your order on time...

This is a tough review because the food was great and after we ordered it came quickly, but every other part of the meal took an absolute age. Meeting friends we got to talking and asked for a moment more before placing our order and were granted closer to ten or fifteen. Our food came quickly (though half the table was served several minutes before the other half of the really) but we had to wait an eternity for our check, an eon for change, and then another era still for our companions' check. After some time, our companions opted to walk their check to the host stand to tender payment. From seating to leaving, two hours and fifteen minutes, none of it the fault of the kitchen. In all that time my Sprite was refilled once. The food was spectacular and I'd consider takeout. The front of house manager should be sacked immediately, I cannot imagine...
