Our food was awful. I ordered medium and got rare. My mother ordered medium-rare and got well done. Her steak was so overcooked that it was a white/grey color. I repeatedly tried to get the waitress to come over. Instead of coming over, she had someone else bring us refills. And that person kept bringing us the wrong drinks. By the time the original waitress finally came over, I had all five types of soft drinks on the table.
At this point, we had been there for an hour and fifteen minutes. Forty-five minutes to get our food, and another thirty minutes of us staring at said food since we couldn't eat it.
I told her our food was made wrong. She then looked at mine and said, "No, you're lying. That's exactly how we make medium here." Then turned to my mother and stated, "I guess you could say that's a little overdone. If you want, I suppose I could ask the cooks to make you another one. I doubt they will, but I could ask them."
Both of us looked at each other, shocked. We hadn't even touched the food she had brought. When my mother asked how long it would take because we couldn't wait another 45 minutes. She stated it would be about an hour if they wanted to make it. When we said we couldn't wait that long, she threw one arm up with her palm in my mother's face and yelled, "Why are you wasting my time? I'll just get your check." Then she stormed off.
She came back with our check about fifteen minutes later. Came back for my card another ten minutes after that. Brought my card and the check to sign after another twenty minutes.
I only left a $3 tip
The worst part is that we were only one of three tables there. They were not busy. All of the employees were standing in the small waiting area where you walk in, laughing and having a good time.
I have never been called a liar before by a waitress. And while I have seen someone put their hand in my mother's face and yell at her. I have never seen that happen by any employee in a service industry in all of my many decades of life while I traveled all around the world in the military. There were two steaks that were cooked to the wrong temp. It wasn't a big deal. She could have thrown mine in the microwave for 3 minutes. It's not like it could have made it taste worse. Instead, she made a mountain out of a mole hill.
We had just left the Cancer Center in the same parking lot. I wanted to do something, anything, to cheer her up.
What a mistake that was.
I got a $60 bill for food that neither of us could eat, and my mother was more upset and sadder than when we went in.
Never go to Longhorn Steakhouse.
The food is bad, and the service is the worst I have ever experienced.
And to put that into perspective. Once, in South Korea. I saw an old Korean woman throw hot oil at a guy for asking for ketchup for his yakimandu. I would rather show up uninvited to Christmas dinner at that Korean woman's home than go back to...
Read moreWent for lunch at the bar this past Wednesday. When we arrived there were 3 guests at the bar and one booth that our bartender was taking care of. Roughly 5 people. We had difficulty finding a spot at the bar because almost all the other seats were dirty with guest dishes and glassware and napkins from guests who had left. Our bartender made no attempt to clear a spot for us, instead she just kept about her business. No hello. As we sat, I told my date I needed to use the restroom. She (my date) asked me if I wanted a drink I said not just yet. I returned from the restroom and my date had no drink. I asked if the bartender had been over and she said no. What followed was a very impersonal, mechanical dining experience. Our bartender did not introduce herself, had no name tag. She was wearing a faded black tee shirt. I really got the feeling that she was there to just serve food- she made no attempt to connect with us in any way. She didn’t realized she was waiting on two VERY experienced bartenders. We were almost done with our meals before she made a half-hearted attempt to clean the bar. She bussed the seat next to me but the departed guest’s napkin remained on the bar next to me for our entire meal. She did not wipe the bar, instead leaving the crump catch full of filth all the way around the bar. I didn’t enjoy listening to her bicker with a server about what Pinot was rung in. I didn’t enjoy listening to her get mouthy with her only booth about their drink. Someone else delivered our food while our bartender waited on literally 6 people. The server was not happy about delivering our food. She was definitely put out that we wanted to eat. I got two n/a beers in a bottle. It was $14 and change before tax. It’s beer. And n/a at that, how do you justify charging $7+ before tax for a bottle of near beer? Again the experience was very methodical and completely impersonal. Similarly, the phone rang off the hook the entire time we were there. Virtually every guest that entered the lobby had to wait and hunt around for a hostess. It made me uncomfortable sitting at the bar to have guests in the lobby peaking around the corner looking for hostess. I typically don’t complain about price because you get what you order. But in this case, it was $100 for two meals an appetizer a pop And two na beers. When you combine that with robotic service, a dirty eating environment where you are surrounded by chaos in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon..it’s probably going to be awhile before Longhorn gets any more of my money. The food was great but the human element was completely missing from the hostess to the server to the bartender to even the phone that can’t get answered in a nearly...
Read moreFood was just okay. We went as a bigger party 9 and did the call ahead on a Thursday. We got there and still waited almost an hour. Not because they were super busy but because they sat a table they needed for our party table thirty minutes before we arrived. I am surprised a corporate chain only has one party table. After about forty five minutes I asked to speak with a manager because the two hosts didn't seem to have any sense of urgency. The manager came up and I asked if he had an idea of about how much longer it would be, he checked and said oh they just got their dinners so maybe another half hour. I tried to get a little justification that this should have been handled a little better. But "they weren't trained that way" per the manager. Anyway we ended up sitting at two different tables our server had an attitude. We were right by the kitchen and could hear her talking about us. The manager never came back to check on us. My husband Never got his drink from the bar. My food was ok my steak was great my baked potato was probably hours old and dried out. My daughters steak was overcooked so they did remake it and it was better. The lobster tails were just okay as well. So after all that we got a subpar meal. With all the options in the area I would definitely try...
