ASIP coffee shop is a bright shining star in a town that is otherwise very dreary and sad. Merced has suffered a lot since the recession a few years ago. Each cup of coffee at ASIP is made by a talented barista with fun designs and everything. He and the whole crew are very friendly and interested in the customers. The shop is simply decorated with wood tables and succulents everywhere. The night I was there they had an impromptu song Night because it happened to be National Coffee Day. What impressed me the most was that the people in the coffee shop joined in the songs as well as interacted together as a community talking to the counter people and each other. It was just a really nice community place to go. They do all of their own coffee roasting and sell their roasted coffee in bags as well. They make delicious muffins and I just enjoyed the atmosphere as well as a coffee. They had Mexican hot chocolate and Mexican coffee which are always winners...
Read moreCame to try this roaster since I have heard such good things. I’m not the one to write a bad review but when someone makes you feel uncomfortable something needs to be said so it doesn’t happen to others or it’s just better explained. We came in, said it was for here and requested our coffee in a mug and the server said he could not do that & they would have to be in to-go cups since they close in 35 min. I told him that wouldn’t be a problem because we would only take 5 minutes since we ordered a short cortado drink. Still said no, I can’t do that with no explanation leaving us just in an awkward position. Regardless, I give it 3 stars because I always wish a small business well and at the end the coffee was great which is primarily why I went in the first place. I even bought a bag of beans to support them more. Just wish the service was a bit more warming with...
Read moreCame here on a Tuesday afternoon and surprised that there was only 1 worker. Nothing to the fault of the staff but one person was not enough as the coffee shop was full and several ppl were waiting to get their drinks and make orders. It took about 30 mins to get 1 coffee drink. Would love for the management to staff the shop more. For safety, it also would be conducive to have at least 2 staff at all times. Also a small but noticeable improvement could be to get a paid Spotify subscription so adds aren’t randomly blasting and ruin the vibe/atmosphere. Small but impactful changes that would improve the business.
Tried the Crème Brûlée latte and sadly it didn’t taste all that great. The crème kinda chunks together after stirring and has an odd taste with the coffee. Recipe could...
