I had always been a fan of the previous Hong Kong restaurant so I was delighted to find out that the restaurant opened with new management and a fresh new menu. Was excited to try it but when I walked in the person behind the counter was more occupied playing on his phone, didn't even ask us if we were eating in or taking out like every other restaurant, and didn't motion to hand us the menu until I went to go grab the paper menu they had at the counter. I ordered the lotus root stir fry with Chinese sausage, lotus leaf fried rice with Chinese sausage, and the shrimp rice noodles. The lotus root stir fry tasted purely like msg and salt and the shrimp rice noodles tasted like soap sometimes. I never got the lotus leaf fried rice even after being approached if I was okay if they can replace the meat with just more Chinese sausage which I agreed to. Instead of telling us that the food will be late or just giving us the fried rice, the same person behind the counter (who was also my server) came over and placed down our bill and never asked me if we even got everything and it felt like he wanted me to leave. Checking the bill, I was charged still for the lotus leaf fried rice even though I never got it and I even asked about it twice but never got it. Plus it was a hassle to even ask them to remove it because with the horrible server and one of the chefs coming out and coughing aggressively in his hands in the hallway, I was no longer in the mood to eat.

I was excited to try the re-opened Hong Kong and was hoping that my favorite, chicken chow fun was still as good as it was at the original Hong Kong. Fortunately, the chow fun was great! The pot stickers were awesome. Everything else was lacking. The service was extremely slow! It was a Tuesday night and not crowded at all. It took 40 minutes to get our appetizer! When dinner finally arrived we had been there for an hour and a half. They brought out my dinner companions plate, and while he ate, I waited another fifteen minutes for my dinner. But the worst was the amount of flies in the restaurant!! They seemed to be never ending and I wondered if we should have requested a table for two or one for 10 to accommodate our FLY dinner companions!! When I asked the waitress why so many flies, she suggested that next time we place an order on the phone and come in an hour to pick it up and take it home to eat!! She said that it was because they had no vent in the kitchen so when it gets Smokey from cooking, they have to open the front door! So naturally, the flies bring all their friends and neighbors to join in trying out the buffet from table to table. Sadly, I will be looking for a favorite Chinese food place as this one just didn’t make me want to return.

New Hong Kong has really transformed itself with a newly renovated and fresh interior as well as a brand new menu that caters to both americanized Chinese tastes but more importantly has really upped their game with more authentic Chinese dishes. No matter if you are here to satisfy your favorite familiar dishes like broccoli beef or orange chicken or here to experience an authentic Chinese food sensation, New Hong Kong has something for everyone. I tried the New Hong Kong restaurant with a party of almost 20 people and the staff were very accommodating and were able to bring out our orders with a decent amount of swiftness. Dishes our party ordered and thoroughly enjoyed: (4) Pan-Fried Scallion Pancakes (2) Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken (1) Roast Duck (Whole) (2) Rice Noodle Roll with Shrimp (2) Rice Noodle Roll with Cilantro and Beef (2) Fish Fillet and Lettuce Congee (2) Stir Flat Rice Noodles with Beef (2) Yangzhou Fried Rice (2) Green Bean with Olive Pickle and Minced Pork (2) Braised Tofu with Fish Fillet Clay Pot (2) Bitter Melon and Pork Ribs Clay Pot (1) Broccoli Beef (4) Crispy Roasted Pork Belly Total cost was under $400 even with a 20% tip.

Wow. I’m super impressed w the change. I used to love Hong Kong but the prices got too high and the portions shrank. The next new owners changed the recipe of a lot of classics so I stopped eating there the past few years. Fast forward to today when I was walking by and noticed the Under New Management sign so I thought I’d give it another try. I ordered the combo plate for $11.95. Fried rice, s&s pork & chow mein noodles. (The chow mein noodles come w egg & pork but the single order of chow mein has more veggies, etc.) The pieces of pork are big and the sauce has a good taste. Let me tell you, the portions are HUGE. The plate was so heavy, I had to weight it. It was 3.25 lbs. That’s a lot of food. Nothing more could fit in the container. The prices are way lower too. The most expensive item is $14.95 (hong kong special for a minimum 2 people) but most are $7.95-$12.95 and you get plenty. I’d order one item for each person and share. My other family members saw my plate and had to try it the next day. They ordered the Mongolian beef (a lil spicy but tolerable for non spicy eaters like me) and chow mein. Both were heaping full plates of fresh, hot and delicious food cooked to order. If you prefer less spicy, just ask them to alter it. I can’t wait to try more of the many, many options available. I’m so excited to have a new place to eat right across the street from me that I can afford weekly. Remember, it’s under new management so give it a try! It’s worth it.

Edit: After trying this restaurant under the new owner a few times, I’d highly recommend skipping the cheaper combo plate ($11.95) and ordering individual dishes. The lower price combo is tempting and you get a lot but the extra few dollars for the special versions is way better. The reason is because the rice and chow mein noodles you get w the combo are their basic version. The rice has egg and pieces of pork, and the chow mein noodles have egg, bean sprouts and slices of pork on top. But when you order them individually off the menu, order the special rice so that you get all the extras like peas,, etc. Same w the chow mein. Order the special chow mein dish because it has a lot of vegetables that aren’t in the basic chow mein noodles included w the combo plate. If you look at the pictures, you’ll see what I mean about the combo plate rice & chow mein and the rice & chow mein ordered as individual dishes. This is most likely why there is such a discrepancy between reviews. Some people ordered the combo plates and were disappointed not knowing that some of the dishes were the basic versions. I’m wondering if they’d feel the same if they tried the special versions? Take my advice… Order off the menu and not the...

Horrible 2 Hours experience!! I had a lot of things to say to this place. *No AC, when they purposely opened during summer time(doesn’t make sense) *never offered water, I had to ask the server for it *server not knowledgeable about the menu could not even answer our question about a dish *the last dish we ordered was the first one that came out and served( are you serious?) *Waiting game each dish comes out at a different times *Flies everywhere landed on the dish they served *No structure No system or whatsoever *My drink(thai tea)came out after 2 dishes, it came out with a reusable straw(looked like somebody’s tumbler straw that was already placed in my drink(I did not open any straw package, it’s supposed to be disposable) so I brought it back and cancelled that drink *The 3rd dish came out after and hour and 20 mins still did not get any sides nor utensils *server brought us a dish that we did not even ordered and when brought up to their attention, she said that they ran out of the dish we ordered so they switched it to something else close to it, at that point my family was already upset because they make decisions for you instead of asking us. *other people that came 30 mins after us received their food faster than us, the lady at the front blamed us for ordering complicated dish when they have a million dishes on their menu(hahaha!) *We never touched the food so we decided to leave it was too much chaotic and obviously they don’t know what they're doing but they told us we have to pay I refused to pay for something I did eat and I refused to pay for bad service *Server lecturing us about Restaurant etiquette, don’t even get me started with that! *I asked to speak to a manager they told me to wait because he/she is busy I seriously waited 15 mins just to attempt to have a conversation and they asked us to sit down when we have been seating down waiting for our food for 1 1/2-2 hrs!! Ridiculous!!! So we walked out the door and will Never going back ever!! I highly DO NOT recommend this new place! Go somewhere else pleaassee🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I get that you guys just open and still trying to get a hang of it but clearly you guys DID NOT put a lot of training on customer service and learn how the...
