My son, wife, and I bought lunch here. We ordered 1 OG, 1 regular cheesesteak, a chicken cheesesteak, and some cheese fries. Our ticket costed just shy of $60.
We all like good food, so I will start with the flavor. The sandwiches were top notch flavor. The fries had some texture issues because they were very soggy. We really couldn’t bring ourselves to eat them, save for a few bites to taste the flavor. While the flavor was good, it was overshadowed and ruined by the texture. They would have been as solid as the sandwiches if they had just been allowed to crisp up more.
The only real disappointment with the sandwiches was the size vs what we saw online. Our son had discovered Cheessteaks when he was watching a video review on YouTube. The video showed their cheesesteaks to be very loaded, and when we arrived and saw the menu, the prices set that expectation as well. However, this wasn’t the case. Our sandwiches were moderately loaded at best; on par with most NJ pizzeria cheesesteaks. I will say that, though they were less filled than expected, this did NOT take away from the flavor nor the satisfaction. These sandwiches are great, and surprisingly filling for their size.
The service here was friendly, but not TOO friendly. It was service with a smile, and no additional conversation. I give it four stars on service because it was friendly, yet to the point to keep the food moving.
This brings me to the atmosphere. I have seen better atmosphere at a food truck in center city Philly. You do not enter the building. There is a single walk-up window with a basic menu. The window stays shut until they are ready to take your order (hence the loss of a star on service). There is no real direction on how they want the crowd handled, except from other customers telling you how to order.
After you order and pay, you are handed a ticket with a number for your order. Then you are left to stand in front of the parking lot until the pickup window opens and calls your number. There is no itemized list of your order on the ticket, so there is no way to tell if they even got your order right before they give it to you. Spoiler: my order had an item wrong, though it wasn’t serious enough for me to complain about it (the onions on my wife’s sandwich were supposed to be well done, and they were barely fried past raw). My biggest complaint about the environment, is that there is only a single bench, wide enough for two decently fit people, or one overweight person. The parking is fairly close to the pickup window, so you could wait in your car, but you might miss your number being called. I would say the atmosphere is on par with your standard Rita’s with more confusion.
Overall, I give this new business four stars. The food is definitely worth a try if you don’t mind paying a bit extra for good food. Just know that the process of getting that food may require you to bring out your inner Sherlock Holmes. Also, go on a clear, warm day if you can’t stand for long (like me), because you’ll probably be waiting in your car with the windows down waiting for...
Read moreMy initial impression of this place was excitement when I saw there was a cheesesteak place so close to me being that I live right in Merchantville. Taylor wings used to be here but their hours were horrible so they inevitably did not survive. So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that their hours here are 11a-10p and only being closed on Monday which is great! My family came over and we planned a stroll here to finally try their food. Unfortunately on a Saturday at 6p they were completely out of food so we were disappointed and walked back home. The worst part is that we called before walking there to make sure everything was in motion but they didn’t answer. Anyway, I really wanted to try their food so we came back the next day a little earlier at 5:45p. I had my order in my head and was ready to go but unfortunately they had no wings or unseeded bread which were of course the two things that I was gonna order so that was disappointing yet again. I am giving them grace because they are new and always packed so they are trying to keep up with a large volume of orders.
The food was ready in 30 mins. So I finally got my food that I ordered: (Cheesesteak, honey chipotle cheesesteak, and cheese fries)
I’ll start with the cheese fries. They were so goood! They didn’t quite look like the picture and it looked like it was sitting under a heat lamp for a bit because the cheese was dry on top but it was still very tasty and there was more cheese at the bottom. The Honey Chipotle cheesesteak was pretty good and I don’t think I tasted anything like it before. Lastly the Cheesesteak with cooper sharp cheese was the best. It was packed with meat, cheese and flavor. Definitely better than the other cheesesteaks around here!
Overall, the food was excellent! I will definitely be back to...
Read moreI will start by saying the food is amazing, however my last experience was not. I have been ordering frequently since they opened. I have sent many friends & family to their Merchantville location, as well as shared their business on my social media platforms. A few weeks ago, I ordered a cheesesteak for delivery. My cheesesteak never arrived. I called several times that night as well as the following days after. I could not get through to speak to anybody. I sent an email to the email listed on the phone prop. I have never received a response back. I was never refunded. I haven’t heard a word from anybody. Crickets. I understand things happen, as I worked In the service industry for 12 years. It is unacceptable that nobody followed up with me to refund or make the situation right. I haven’t ordered since. I’m all about supporting small businesses, but the fact that nobody communicated anything to me is unacceptable. I hope moving forward they have better customer service. I will not be ordering from them in the future, and have advised others...
