Fernando's Café — Restaurant in Meridian Charter Township

This place has flown under my radar, even though I moved to Haslett four years ago. The word "CAFE" above a door wedged between the Rite-Aid and Tru-Value just didn't jump out at me.

Fast-forward to this week and I was looking for a place for my son and I to have a quick lunch. That's when this place jumped out at me on Google Maps, as it has a high rating. And let me tell ya, that high rating is justified and I wished I would have checked out the CAFE sooner!

My son and I both had a burger. My son said his was better than What-a-burger (he lives in Texas with his mom most of the year), and having tried What-a-burger myself, that is quite the compliment! My patty melt was also great. It was cooked perfectly, evenly, and was good to the last bite. The fries were good, too, although I wish they were cooked a little more, but having fries that are nearly overly done is a personal preference of mine, and may not be what everyone is looking for.

The service here is fantastic. The two servers that were attending the restaurant were very attentive and personable to everyone in the restaurant. The food came out hot and quick.

I will definitely be coming back. I need to try the olive burger and corned beef reuben, which, with the patty melt, are my go-to staples when I try out cafe-style restaurants in Michigan. This was not a personal attack I was giving a honest review on service that you provided. I will be contacting you soon thank you for opportunity to speak with you. Thank you. I have been a HUGE fan of fernandos 's for about 4 years. The food the atmosphere the service was outstanding up until recently when the new owners took over. I have been trying to give them several chances to win me back and I recently went in to give them a personal experience to see if anything had changed Granted the food was delicious this time, which was a great improvement from my last previous experiences. It was a new selection on the menu but unfortunately it was diminished by the service that I and my friend received. This is the second time I have gone into the establishment where the service was poor and unfortunately that really makes me sad since this was a huge staple in the Haslett community for coming in and being able to enjoy the atmosphere. EDIT:Used to love this place! Been about a year since we stopped in for breakfast. Complete menu change and not for the better. Sat down and ordered drinks, but left when server came back to take our order. Have not gone back. New owners have really messed this place up and it's really unfortunate.

They have the best pancakes! They have a nice selection on the menu. Breakfast and lunch have always been good no matter what I've gotten. Typical cafe food, they are not trying to hard or going for fancy. This is just good food without anything weird going on because someone was trying to hard. This place can be quite busy and when they are service can be slow. I always plan to be here an hour at least. This is not a place you pick if you need a quick in and out. Service is usually friendly and helpful. Tables and booths could be cleaned down better. It would be nice if they dis some sitting of customers themselves when busy, it can be very frustrating to go in with a good sized group to find there is no where to sit, big booths or round table being taken up by one, when there booths could hold 6 at least depending on whether you have kids or not.
