My husband and I drove 20 minutes to this location to get pie one evening after work. The hours posted online and on the store window said this location was open until 8:30pm. We showed up at 8:01pm, and all the store doors were locked, but there were some people inside. We walked around to the back entrance to see if it was a fluke, and an employee walking out to smoke rudely told us that (1) couldn't we see that this was the back entrance and the doors were locked, (no duh?), and (2) she had the authority to close the store early because there was a lot of clean up work and she wanted to get done at a decent time.
Frankly, I'm not interested in contributing to a business that can't maintain posted business hours because it would rather accommodate lazy employees. I've enjoyed Grand Traverse in the past, but between the employee's snarky response to our questions and the failure to maintain regular business hours, I'll be taking my business elsewhere...
Read moreA weary Ohioan on the road such as I was, sought sustenance and found it within the walls of the Grand Traverse Pie Company and the delight I found led to a second visit on the trip! An absurdity you might believe but this is no jest, no harlequin story! After ending my long travel and hungering for dinner I ordered sandwiches and pie via the online order - and while it has a more limited pie selection than that in store, I found dinner - a satisfying sandwich, a slice of pie ala mode - all that AND A BAG OF CHIPS! We all enjoyed quiche, a strange egg based breakfast pie, as well as pumpkin'd bread and a dessert pie. And I have not been cursed with divine madness, but all members of the party were able to share the meal for less than $10 a person! A blessed price at a...
Read moreFollow up; their web team responded to my original post online for marketing purposes (see below), but their promise that a manager would be in contact with us to resolve things was not fulfulled. They did not follow up as promised. Maybe they're a good chain with a bad manager? Who knows... Is there a rating lower than 1 star?
Original review follows:
Simply dreadful. We went in 40 minutes before closing. Dining room was empty, and every table was un-wiped and dirty. Asked how fresh the decaf was. Response? "We made it a few hours ago." Asked if they could make some fresh, please. Response? A monsyllabic "no" with a stare. So we decide on a drink of water and two slices to go. The strawberry-rhubarb turned out to not be cooked through. Ich. And the "mountain berry" was repulsively sweet. So, to sum up, a dirty restaurant with bad service and repulsive food. Not a very nice...
