I was extremely disappointed with yesterday's experience with food and services, which I never expected from this restaurant. Entry, no smile on face? Bathroom, dirty no toilet papers. Then comes food part. With covid changes I understand using paper plates and water bottle. This is summer, water served in bottle was not cold at all. Ordered food, came extremely late. One dish at a time. In between at least 15 to 20 min. I thought they are taking time to make food delicious. Gobi Manchurian was like tempura Gobi mixed with red color, and tossed in sweet and sour sauce. Extremely hot we could look at food but couldn't put in mouth. Then comes bhuna mutton, mutton pieces mixed with masala and smeared with hot red paper becuase we ordered extra hot. But we could feel raw red chillie powder. Then we had to ask for rice and chapati. It came crafter 10- 15 min. Then comes their.special dish michi.ka salan, which was green hot pepper mixed grounded peanut paste and some spices curry style. It was disgusting. Ok my favorite dish gajar halwa was literally was steamed grated carrots mixed with sugar syrup added little cream. We ordered chicken biryani, it was fried rice with, left over tandoori chicken pieces. Really ??? They were short staffed, I get it. But that is not excuse when u are doing business. Be honest, don't take any customers, when u cannot handle it. Or limit how many orders u can take. Three people who were working there they were not paying attention to customers at all, or asking how is food, do u need anything, they were acting like we all are untouchables. C'mon guys. Improve yourself and your services. Felt bad for all the people who were anxiously waiting for food. And bad quality of food on...
Read moreI will not visit this place anymore. The behaviour of the cook/person bringing food from kitchen was Very rude.
We, total 4 people went to Persis for dinner. We had one guest from Texas, also. We ordered four different menus, only the butter chicken was okay.Other 3 persons did not like dosa, mutton curry, and another mutton menu. I told clearly during order I do not want any coriander in my dish-mutton curry. But then, they came with corriander in the dish. It was clear misunderstanding from their side, they thought I told curry leaves!! When I told about corriander, they were frustrated and faced look angry. They went back and come back after sometime with the dish, without corriander. But the behaviour the cook(looked like,he brought the food also) showed was too rude. He put the bowl from high height in the table, tried to show his anger in that way!! All of us were so surprised, and decided will not come ever! Besides, the dish,he brought later, was not cooked well.He tried to rush, as it was their closing time, and did not cook the food properly. It was mistake of your people, who did not understand, what I said! Mistake can be always there,I understand. But why rude behavior?? We are not eating for free!! 3 of the menu was bad out of 4. We were ashamed in front...
Read morePersis Indian Grill has a good ambience. They offer a variety of food, and the South indian menu looked great.
I will only talk about the food I had: the samosa chat was nowhere near what I expected. The samosa wasnt fresh to start, and was lacking beaten yougurt, sweetness and savoryness when you visualize samosa chat. Nothing good about it.
The special boneless chicken biryani was OK. It did come with a whole boiled egg ( most Indian restaurants in Lansing only serve half egg). But then, I felt something lacking, like, you know, that spices kick every biryani has. Definitely didnt have cloves, cardamon, and yes anything you can imagine of that usually goes into a biryani.
I was totally dissapointed by the silverware they were serving the food. It was dismal for a restaurant of this size and reputation to serve food in 'take home' boxes, and paper plates with plastic spoons and forks. It is a pandemic and we all are going through terrible times, but hello!
To summarize, the dull and unflavorful food that I had didnt give that Indian feel to the food and the silverware was pathetic. They didnt have dosa available, but I will give them a try to see what they offer in the SOuth Indian dishes!
Hence...
