This place is really over rated. I ate here 2 years ago and the food was pretty disappointing. Decided to give them one more shot. Being that the name of the place is the Boise Fry Company, you would think that they would make fantastic fries. You would be wrong. Every fry I have eaten has been over cooked in stale oil and kind of bitter. They leave the skins on their russet fries, which gives them an odd texture and flavor. They have a large selection of sauces. Again not a big fan. They have (as of this visit) ketchup, which is ketchup. Spicy ketchup, which is akin to taco bell hot sauce. Pumpkin aioli, which tastes like the guts of a pumpkin pie. Blueberry ketchup, which has as much in common with ketchup as a sea urchin has in common with an elephant. Garlic aioli, mix mayo with butter then pass a garlic clove through it momentarily. Fry sauce, take ketchup and mayo then mix in some curry powder. Bbq sauce, spicy bbq sauce. Out of all of these the only one that was fitting to eat was ketchup, but this is my opinion, and if I am writing this i don't need to be fully objective. As for the burger, it was well cooked with cheddar cheese melted on it with leaf lettuce, tomato and some weird flavored pickles on a hard chewy bun akin to dry bagel. Replace the bun and pickles with normal ones and the burger would be fantastic. My wife had the bison gravy poutine. I dont care for gravy on fries, but my wife enjoyed it. She also had the sweet potato fries which she said went well with the sweet sauces (pumpkin and blueberry). She then ordered the doughnuts (holes?) Which were cooked in the same stale oil as the fries, which made them kinda, well for lack of a better term, bad. They had Hershey syrup as a side, eeh... Overall I dislike this place and will likely never return. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because my wife liked some of it. I am done with them. In summary YOU HAD ONE JOB AND YOU FAILED! The Boise Fry Company should make good fries, and...
Read moreNow - I consider myself a huge hamburger fan and love eating and normally enjoy trying new places. We have heard a lot about The Boise Fry company and thought we would give it a try- not sure if we caught them on a bad night, but it was NOT what we were expecting. The burger was in fact good, but very small and very overpriced for what you get. The fries were cold and soggy and the appearance was not appetizing. We tried three different kinds of fries and all were unimpressive. For a “fry company” you would think the fries would be amazing- nope! There were lots of different sauces to try and we tried them all but, in the end we went back to ketchup which is unusual for our family - we are sauce fanatics. We ordered drinks for our entire party and the soda machine was not working. The amazing part of this was they upsold us sodas when we ordered knowing the machine was out of order. The compensation to us for ordering drinks was to give each of us a can of soda for the 1.50 we spend Per drink instead of refunding us for a product that was not available. Everything cost you extra here. If you want a small burger with cheese (extra) and a few toppings (extra) an order of fries and a drink you need to expect to pay near $15 per meal. We spent close to $70 for a family of 6 including kids and shared fries. I’d recommend going to Big Judds if you are in the Boise area and are looking for a great burger and traditional fries with fry sauce. You’ll pay less and get a lot more food for your buck. Hate to leave a review like this, but we were VERY unimpressed, especially with the size of the helping and the drink issues we had. Not likely to eat here again nor recommend The Boise...
Read moreI have been wanting to try this place forever after driving by numerous times, and I finally got the opportunity.
I am super glad I stopped by for lunch, the menu was very refreshing! I was greeted by a member of the team, and they were nice enough to talk to me about the various different menu items.
Expecting fries to be their specialty due to their name, I was not disappointed. They had every kind of potato available to make fries out of, including multiple varieties of the same potato.
They also offer a ton of options for dipping your fries, beyond the standard catsup, and they also offer a giant variety of salts to sprinkle over your fries as well to season them to your liking. I was SUPER impressed with this setup available in a "serve yourself" station parallel to the dining area.
What I didn't expect when I went there was the large variety of burgers they offered, including a bison burger that I just had to try. Of course they also offered many different "adds" for your burger, you just have to specify what you like and don't like.
The bison burger was very lean and super delicious, I am glad I took the workers recommendation to try it. It was cooked to perfection, and the bun that it came on was equally fresh as were all of the ingredients.
The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
There are a ton of seats in a nicely decorated establishment, it was a real treat to eat in and enjoy my meal.
I will absolutely return again to try out different items on the menu, thank you Boise Fry Company for a truly unique visit...
