To the manager of this establishment: I came by today 6/10/23 at 10:30 to get a 6â crispy chicken sandwich with just chicken, provolone and buffalo sauce. After placing my order, the person working the grill accidentally knocked over the scraper and brush that is used to clean the grill top. It laid on the floor for a couple of seconds until the cashier went and picked up both utensils and asked the person running the grill something about those utensils. The grill cook shook their head and I assumed (either correctly or incorrectly) the question was something along the lines of âshould I clean this?â.
Operating off that assumption, I interjected and said that the items definitely needed to be cleaned immediately. At that point, the cashier responded by saying they were asking whether the items needed to be cleaned now or if they should be doing other things. I replied, as someone whoâs about to eat here, Iâm very concerned about those items not being cleaned immediately. The cashier proceeded to take the brush and put it under the grill (uncleaned), and then disappeared into the back area to clean the scraper (I hope).
When my to-go order was finally ready, I walked out and proceeded to unwrap the sandwich and found that marinara sauce was put on my sandwich and not the buffalo sauce I had ordered. At that point, I returned back inside and let the two employees know that I was not interested in them re-making my order but that they should know that the order they made was incorrect. The grill cook offered to make the sandwich again but I replied by saying âafter seeing the utensil thing and now noticing the wrong sauce was on the sandwich, I have no interest in having them make it again, I just want them to know that it was not what I had ordered.â
I am not interested in getting a refund or having these employees fired but I do believe a re-training is in order (especially around food safety). I donât know if that brush will ever get cleaned but I can definitely say I will not be returning to this establishment, for fear that more egregious things have happened (or...
Read moreEDIT: I am pleased with how Jon Smith Subs responded to this review, so I have change the review to five stars. They fixed the situation promptly.
and I wanted to give this 5 stars, but unfortunately my first experience, and possibly last experience, here wasn't great. We ordered a pick up order for the office for a coworkers Birthday online. When we went to pick it up, there were only four drinks and fries. I mentioned to the lady putting together our order that we were missing a drink and Fry, so she went back to the receipt and said no that we didn't. I accepted the answer, thinking maybe I ordered wrong online. However, when we got back to the office, I checked my own receipt and sure enough, there were five fries and five drinks. When I called back the person said sorry, they hadn't noticed it, even when I specifically said we had ordered that many and to look for it. I'm a little frustrated, as we are a very busy office, and barely even had the time to send someone to get the order. We couldn't send back a person to pick up the fries and drink, so the person who was having a birthday didn't even get her fries or drink. I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but this could've been handled so much better. I ended up telling the person on the phone to refund the fries and drink to our card, so I hope it is taken care of. Maybe they do better for single orders, or people coming in to the shop to order, but I do not recommend ordering online for pickup for large...
Read moreWe used to visit John Smith's at this location a few times a week under the previous ownership. They closed near the end of October 2023.
The location has now reopened under new ownership, but we have mixed feelings about the quality of the food and other aspects.
The bacon on their BLT doesn't taste as good as it used to. We're not sure if they're using a different brand or if they've changed the way it's grilled. They now offer only one size of fries, whereas they used to have small, medium, and large. This seems to be a local decision because the main John Smith's website still shows other sizes available. They don't taste as good as they did under previous ownership. The Gator and Hot Pastrami sandwiches have less meat and other ingredients than we were used to with the previous owner. They used to have fry sauce on the tables, but now they provide a very small container of fry sauce. They will give you more if you ask, but it's inconvenient to ask when they're busy cooking or taking orders, so we have to wait. They used to have wheat bread, but now the only option is white. One thing that hasn't changed is the friendly and courteous staff, which does bring us back occasionally, but not as...
