This is the BEST Chinese food there is! Just FYI though: this is for reals Chinese restaurant Chinese food. Nothing like panda Express. I took a friend here & he was annoyed that one, no drive thru & two, no simple to order plates/bowls. Hahaha We are both millennials. I asked him, "did your parents never order Chinese food in the 80's & 90's? Mine parents disorder Chinese on occasion & big bowl is the food I remember. They make the very very best fried rice! So insanely good it is! Their beef & broccoli is awesome sauce! Sweet & sour pork is too good for words. Also, they deliver & they get the orders spot on with awesome communication & most importantly, they have no trouble finding my unit. That alone is priceless IMO. It is no typical accomplishment that I get any deliveries here successfully with no significant inconveniences involved. These guys nailed it first try & have not come up short since. I do recommend Big Bowl Chinese food 200%! Oh....btw: being as how this isn't a place you get specific individualized meals in the sense you do from McD's or sonic I can't give a super simple quote on a price per meal. Sorry. Instead I am taking the total-entrees + fried rice + egg roles + beverages & am dividing the total by eaters. (Sweet & sour pork entree + beef & broccoli entree-both entrees large sizes + two Dr peppers & one 7up/sprite sort of flavor-I forget which + six pork egg rolls and to approx $45.) More than enough to satisfy three with leftovers remaining I will say around $15 per person. I'm applying very basic, grade school level, mathematics & I have drawn a pic how I have arrived at this estimate. I am not saying this will be the break down for anyone else. Add up all the options for yourself & divide accordingly per your own preferences. Don't be angry or feel "scammed" by me please if you order same thing as we did for just yourself, please. I'm just trying to help anyone I can buy reporting my own experiences as the guide program. Thank you for understanding this & please, I encourage...
Read moreLove this place! And if you dine in, which I recommend, come hungry because they do not mess around! The food is amazing, fresh, and plentiful, and the lunch specials are amazing! Here's what I love! Lunch special was under $10 for a bowl (not a tiny saucer cup) of egg drop soup. They have all of the sauces and seasonings available for you to grab at your leisure, without having to ask or wait on someone to bring it to you. And they have every kind of sauce and versions of soy sauce, not just soy and low sodium soy. Then the giant plates of, (this time it was Mongolian beef and sweet and sour shrimp), came hot and freshly made to our table along with rice and noodles and an eggroll/springroll...pretty much delicious tucked into a lightly crispy vessel making it easy to shove it down my throat hole! And the extra thought Big Bowl puts into their service and desire your you to really...really, enjoy your meal, is hard to miss! They brought out a bowl of sweet and sour so I could sauce my shrimp as I ate, with however much or little I wanted so my giant shrimpies didn't have a chance to sit and get soggy while I made my way around the plate! Super thoughtful and an amazing touch:) I really wanted to eat everything at once! We were presented with a Chinese cookie and the traditional fortune cookie, along with to go boxes, all while chatting with Sandra, who had remembered my companion as a loyal customer. She remembered where he had previously worked and even knew my brother, who wasn't even there. She really makes you feel welcome and that the food was made just for you! And it was!! My recommendation for Big Bowl is GO!! No, really, go! Go now!!! You will not be disappointed! Great prices, fantastic atmosphere and employees and freshly made food that will fill you up!! Go on now! Get outta her and get to Big Bowl! Broadway and...
Read moreI do not know what Big Bowl was like before the remodel because I’ve only lived in Mesa for a year. I’ve been there at least 10 times since the remodel and the new owners took over and never had a bad experience with the quality of the food or the service.
In fact it’s been the opposite. The first thing that struck me was their dedication to cleanliness. If I walk into a messy restaurant with sticky tables, dirty floors and a disgusting bathroom I immediately suspect the food will not be up to par. Not the case at Big Bowl in my experience so far.
As for the food, it’s delicious. To many Chinese restaurants load up dishes with green peppers and onions. They’re the 2 cheapest ingredients they can buy to avoid adding more chicken, beef or fish on the plate.
My favor Chinese dish is Honey Walnut Shrimp. I like Mongolian Beef and Orange Chicken as well but almost always go with Honey Walnut Shrimp. They make it perfectly.
They also make Pad Thai Pork which I must try someday because that's my favor Thai meal.
Their best appetizer is the 5 piece Crab Puffs. They're incredible. Here's the description from their menu.
"Honey meets west cream cheese blended with imitation crab meat in a crispy wonton."
The other thing worth mentioning is they only charge $3 for delivery (without tip which you should always do regardless) within their service area.
In summary, the place is clean and the food is excellent, at the least the food I've sampled. And the service was just as good.
They want to please and they're the kind of place that if you were unsatisfied with your meal they'd do everything possible to accommodate you.
I highly recommend them and I hope they maintain the current quality of their food and service. As long as they do they'll always be must 1st choice...
