El Gallo De Lagos — Restaurant in Mesa

I went in on a hot Sunday afternoon, upon entering the shop I was immediately hit with the enchanting aroma of authentic Mexican food. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, the restaurant was clean and comfortable. They were fairly busy but I still received my food in a speedy manner. The quality of the food was top-notch, not only was the quality good but it did not upset my stomach like typical Mexican restaurants in Mesa. I give this shop a 5 out 5 starts because it is the type of restaurant that is needed to provide a great Mexican experience. Not expensive either, everything on the menu was reasonably priced. Definitely recommend to anyone...

It was good flavor but just not anything that'll blow you away. I had a carne asada, pastor, and pollo asado taco. They were all good. Pastor was missing that rich authentic flavor that I always search for. Asada was a little oily and didn't have any kind of char or seasoning that makes the exceptional stand out. Their salsas were all REALLY good. Perfect consistency in my opinion. Really stuck to the taco. The red was toasty and juicy without too much heat. All of the salsas complimented the meats. I'm gonna go back to try their other items and see if I can't buy a tub of that salsa...

Wanted to try a bunch of and pop restaurants in hopes tof finding a hidden gem for tacos.

Ordered 4 Carne Asada tacos. After 20min of waiting I went to go check on them. It seemed like they might have forgotten my order. That’s okay, I’ve worked in food service and honestly it happens every once in awhile.

Waited another 20min..asked again. They said it would be right up. 5min passed and they brought my 4 Carne Asada tacos.

The tortilla broke, the meat was okay tasting. The whole taco was lukewarm.

Super disappointed :/
