Moreno's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Mesa

Used to eat here semi-regularly. Would normally order a burro grande (carne asada) with everything to go. Tried a few other menu items but nothing else stood out to me.

The reason for only two stars, and that I no longer eat here, is because I got terrible food poisoning after picking up some food here later at night. I'm the type of person who almost never gets sick, but I was so sick that I had to miss work the next day and even considered going to an urgent care. High fever, stomach issues, the whole nine yards....

It may have been an isolated incident, so I won't go all out and only give one star, but the staff here really needs to stay on top of safe food handling and FIFO because I've only ever been sick like that one other time in my life.

I honestly believe that because I came in late at night, they just used some ingredients that were bad or had sat out too long. Seriously, I hope they do everything they can to use safe food and to handle it properly because if I was elderly or a child that could have been life threatening.

Saving a few bucks on food waste or some time on prep is not worth risking...

My friend and I went here the other day... Tuesday, Sept. 19th, and spent around 60$ for 2 people. I even left a tip. The food was great as always. However, honesty must not be too high on their priority list, well at least the employee. Long story short, my friend's phone was left in the seating booth. We left the restaurant around 4PM and he didn't realize he didn't have his phone est.6PM. We drove right over to the restaurant. A shift change has taken place. He walked to the girl working at the front. He asked if they had found an iPhone. The girl stated nothing was turned in, they didn't have it. She continued to lie. Luckly the location was turned on, he finally brought it up to the girl, the phone says it's here. She walked to the back pulled open a drawer and grabbed the phone. Continued her way to the front where the registers are and handed my friend his phone. She knew the phone was there the whole time. How violating, and dishonest of the worker. I definitely felt some kinda way for him, and it wasn't...

Really bad experience. I asked for a quesadilla with rice and beans and normally the Morenos I have been to like in San Tan valley comes with guac and sour cream, this morenos tried charging me 2.64 for a 2oz of guac on the side and 1.43 for sour cream. And to top it off I ordered to go and the cashier told me you can't bring your beer outside. I said okay no problem. I was getting sauce to go before I finished my beer and she came up to me again and said you can't leave with your beer, and I said I know you already told me that.... I am not leaving right now. Then she repeated herself like she thought I was stupid and said you can't bring your beer outside. It was very disrespectful. I felt like the entire staff was being extremely rude. I asked for a manager and they said they didn't have one available and they didn't know when she would be there. Extremely dissatisfied with the staff and service. If it wasn't for the good food I would never go to another Morenos again. But I still will never go back to...
