The prices are on par with other such places (Filiberto's, Alfonso's etc). Nothing special there. Their bean and cheese burritos are a bit smaller than Filiberto's, and if you pay extra for sour cream they don't put much on.
Actually, as of 9/3/21 it cost me just over $22 for three bean and cheese burritos with sour cream. So maybe they're a bit on the expensive side.
However, the flavor of their bean and cheese burrito is far better than Filiberto's and they lightly toast the outside of the tortilla after they make it, which makes it taste really good. They wrap their burritos in foil instead of paper, which seems to keep them hot for the drive home. They use white cheese (I believe it's still cheddar) in their burritos which gives them a better flavor. This cheese does not make for a better quesadilla though IMO.
If you're going for a bean and cheese burrito and you don't need it quite as big as Filiberto's, go with these guys. The last time we had Filiberto's the beans tasted like they came straight out of a can. These beans are much better. If you're going for a cheese quesadilla with guacamole, go to Filiberto's.
I haven't had anything else on the menu so I can't comment on anything else. It all smells amazing though, so go have a taco adventure if you like 😂.
Oh and one last thing. Their red sauce is more spicy than most places like this. Very good flavor though. Haven't tried the...
Read moreEl Asadero Tacos Al Carbon is a clean restaurant with nice service. I gave it three stars because some of the food was very good and some was not so good. I'll start with the very good items I ordered; the menudo was the best menudo I've had in Arizona. The flavor was perfectly spicy and the broth had the perfect consistency...not too thick and not too watery. There was a good balance of hominy and tripe. Excellent soup. The only thing that could've made the soup a little better for me is if they remove some of the oil floating on the top of the soup. It was a bit too much oil for my taste. The rice, beans, and salad were excellent tasting and good quality. The chicken tacos were excellent and the chicken was seasoned nicely. The flavor and consistency of the green and red salsa from the salsa bar were some of the best I've had at a small taco shop. Like top 3 best. The salsa bar was also well stocked, fresh and clean. The part I didn't like was the carne asada tacos and the carne asada torta. The torta was flavorless and the bland carne asada didn't help it. It was the worst torta I've had. The carne asada tacos were also not good. The asada is bland and flavorless. It only has the smoke flavor from the grill and that's the only flavor. It wasn't even salted. That's why I gave it 3 stars. They need to work on their carne asada and their tortas. Otherwise, I liked this small,...
Read moreI see that a lot of people are reviewing this place with 5 stars for the food. I guess we are the odd ball out because to us the food was ok. My husband had the al pastor burrito plate. The beans and rice were ok, nothing special. The burrito had beans inside it too. I guess I should've asked what was in the burrito before ordering. The flavor of the meat was ok, again nothing special. It definitely did not taste like authentic al pastor should taste, being freshly cut off the trompo. We also ordered carne asada fries. The meats flavor was a 5/10. It did have the al carbon flavor but wasnt anything amazing. The guacamole was definitely not fresh. It did have that "days old" flavor unfortunately. My daughter had ordered 2 carne asada tacos. They were definitely over priced for being the mini tacos that they were. And last but not least, their salsa was just ok. The red one did have a tiny little spice to it but it was just not good, sadly. Almost tasted more like seasoned tomato sauce. The green salsa was ok, nothing great. Overall, it was a bit over priced and we give the food a 5/10. We have had worse food but definitely have...
