This one of my 2 trivia homes when I lived here 2 yrs ago so when I moved back Monday I decided to check it out. Jim, the new host (new to me anyway) was great. The questions were targeted at baby boomers instead of millenials and there were no cheating kids hiding their cell phones. My taco-less Taco Salad was to die for. Alexis my server was topnotch, a wholesome cutie pie, and I tipped her as such. The blonde bartender has issues but then I WAS the only black in the place and this IS Arizona, so I expected SOMEBODY to carry the Jan Brewer/Evan Meachum racist torch. Other than that the night was perfect.
Edited Review 3/23/2017 What a difference 4 months makes. Let me preface by saying Alexis is the best server & deserves ALL your tips! Today is my 60th Birthday & I was really hoping for a fond farewell to my posted trivia home. kudos to Trivia host Jim who runs a great game and is watchful for cheaters. I ordered chicken tenders that were LITERALLY RAW inside. It's been about an hour since I bit into the 1st one and I'm not barfing yet, so lucky for them.Other than Alexis, I have HISTORICALLY had difficulty getting equivalent service in that place, which is sad because the CLUENTELE is the friendliest group you ever wanna meet. I felt like Cliff Craven from Cheers dealing with the customers. They also have Karaoke on Monday's & Thursday's but the sub host tonite was the Monday host who likes to feature multiple solos by himself and his girlfriend, so they probably see this as their own showcase. I also asked him once before about the ability to change key signature in a song like MOST legitimate Karaoke companies offer. He said he couldn't, which flies in the face of what his Co-worker told me when HE was hosting. So the overall bottom line, okelleys is a great experience if you look like everyone ELSE in the bar. If you're an African-American, find another watering hole. In there, with regard to the staff other than Alexis, NOBODY...
Read moreI have rarely wasted my time going out of my way for this crap but it has to be done.
My toddler and I sat ourselves and after 10 mins I flagged wait staff for menus. She brought menus as our server showed up. Ordered drinks, my first drink to show up 15 mins later was wrong, she gave it to me for free as she should and said she’d give me what I ordered later. Fine. We ordered around 1:25 (it was probably much, much earlier but I’m being conservative), was told at 1:55 it would be ready in 6 minutes. Around 2:10, they brought my food and said my son’s food would be 5 mins. Then 5 more, then 5 more, etc. While we waited, I couldn’t let my son keep going hungry so I stripped the flavor off of my wings so he could eat the chicken. In the meantime he inevitably got stains on his brand new shirt that was actually a birthday gift that would never have happened with his chicken salad. You can’t make this up! Sometime around 2:25, they showed up with the salad, which I refused because it had been 45 mins to an hour since my hungry 4 year old child ordered it. A chicken salad. That is embarrassingly absurd. I refused it, my server said “I figured.” And it was removed from the bill, as it should have been. We had no time to stick around for more antics. While we still had the ability to spend money elsewhere grabbing food on the road to our destination, we paid the bill with 20% tip and won’t be back. As a patron, I’m disappointed. As a parent, I’m much more aggravated!...
Read moreI'm a familiar face around here for several years. This experience just happened and I'm a little upset.
I went to the bar and ordered a tall drink. Thinking that it would come to under $7 with happy hour, I set out my five and ones in front of the bartender even before I ordered. So when she comes back and tells me it's $8 I made a comment that I might have to run back to the car (with several crisp twenties) but I managed to fish the rest out in change from my pocket. I was apologetic that I wouldn't leave her hanging.
Most people would graciously smile and move along even if she doubted my honesty. I don't even know if it's even been obligatory to leave a tip on the spot anyway. Instead she had the audacity to accuse me of having previously set down two $5s and deliberately now pretending I'll have to short her on a tip. Total fabrication.
Sorry I under-estimated your prices. I've witnessed some attitude from here before so I'm not entirely shocked.
