This bachelor's encounter with Pier 88 was a very interesting, roundabout journey. The East Valley is not known for its cajun or seafood offerings, with a few gems yet to be discovered. This bachelor typically settles for bargain-basement fast-food fried chicken and dirty rice, but he doesn't enjoy it.
Today was Christmas Day, and this bachelor had demolished a pre-ordered Holiday Dinner after church last night. Desperate for something exceptionally tasty, he ordered duck and pork buns from a reputable Dim Sum place, but when DoorDash offered him a glimpse of Pier 88, he canceled the duck!
Imagine his amusement when the receipt arrived, printed in Chinese characters. This Pier 88 must be run/owned by Chinese, and is that any shock? The Chinese in California are as old as our railroads, and these seafaring peoples are skilled at adapting their techniques.
So this bachelor was thrilled by an exquisite spread. He ordered 1/2 lb of sausage just to have meat; it came with a juicy, fresh half-cob of corn.
The centerpiece of this meal was an ordinary Catfish Po'Boy, with 2 extra cups of Spicy Mayo and Cajun fries. The fries and fish were light, crispy, and fresh. Juicy tomato and lettuce rested on a nice po'boy bun. 3 kinds of sauces included the extras he ordered. How delightful!
This bachelor saved some po'boy bits and 1/4 lb of sausage for later. The unsweet iced tea was a wonderful complement to all of this: California Dreamin', on such a winter's day. Now it's time to crank up that Credence Clearwater Revival playlist: Have You Ever...
Read moreI sttll see, that ownership will not give any feedback on the low reviews. I wish this place would close down. Maybe a new restaurant could take its place Sat at the bar area at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. They had to get a server to work the bar. Happy hour started at 3:00 goes till 7. The ordering of food and drinks went well. Food came out fast and was good. When they gave us our check nothing rang up at the happy hour price. Luckily we caught it, but it took them 20 minutes to correct. Tv's are not bar worthy for a bar. None of the beer taps worked. This store is not ready for a gathering of people in the bar area for food and drinks and socializing. I will attempt to re visit this store In a couple of months. Hopefully all the kinks will be worked out. Update on this post. It fascinates me that ownership/management does not have any comments on any of the posted reviews this tells me that they don't give a shit about anybodyies opinion this place will fail I have driven by this place many times I live in the area. No cars in the parking lot ownership/management of this store is bad
Still no feedback from management or ownership on any review posted very piss poor acknowledgement from...
Read moreDive into PIER 88 Boiling Seafood & Bar, and you'll find yourself immersed in an oceanic ambiance that's both bright and inviting. The decor sets the scene with cool, well-lit wall art and an impressive hanging shark that adds a dash of adventure to your dining experience.
Maggie, the bartender, is a gem! During happy hour, the popcorn crawfish and calamari are must-haves. The calamari comes in the form of rings that are breaded to perfection, creating a satisfying crunch that leads to the tender seafood within. The popcorn crawfish, paired with a delectable dipping sauce, is a flavorful journey for your taste buds.
Venturing into the main menu, the No Head Shrimp is a standout. Served in a bag that seals in the flavors, it's a treasure trove with corn on the cob and potatoes. The shrimp are cooked to a turnâjuicy and full of flavor. I'd suggest going for the medium spice level; it brings a pleasant heat that complements the seafood without overpowering it.
Whether you're in for happy hour or a full feast, PIER 88 Boiling Seafood & Bar is a splendid catch for seafood lovers seeking a vibrant spot with food that's...
