Me and My Fiancé were in purchasing a firearm on March 12th 2024, we had THE RUDEST and UNPROFESSIONAL fire arms salesman I have ever seen, his name was CHRIS and he joined the firearms sales team on 12/17/24 as I could see on his name tag, he was blonde with a mohawk type haircutt, I will give as detailed information as I can because I'm blown away and really hope Bass pro shop management will do somthing about this. when me and My Fiancé went in to purchase a hand gun that I wanted to get her so she can start to learn and feel comfortable with fire arms and have one as her own as is her 2nd amendment right, we started being very Rudely asked unessesary questions that seem odd for a place wanting to sell guns such as "why do you want this gun?" and "why not just go to a shooting range to learn how to shoot guns? why do you want to get one before you learn" and a million other things that were very ridiculous questions and Chris said them very rudely. I was buying the gun for her and she was very nervous being new to guns and all and found them very intimidating and he made the whole experience even worse for her, now she doesn't even want to go and shoot it.
Chris had also asked who's buying it and will be the owner of the firearm I said I'm buying it for her so it will be in her name, then he said he was concerned that I was the one picking out the PURPLE HANDLED gun and I was using her to get it because he is assuming me to be some sort of criminal with a record or somthing because apparently it's so uncommon for a man to buy his fiancé a fire arm.
when he asked me this I replied saying that I will take a background check too if that's what he needs and he proceeded to call over a manager and whisper things to the manager like he's trying to convince him to turn us away or somthing, it was RIDICULOUS. at the end of the day, we passed the background checks and went on our way with our new firearm and he was just about the most plainly Rude and prejudice gun salesman I have ever come across in any gun store EVER. If I see him at the firearms counter again I will never come back to Bass proshop which is saying alot since I have some of my earliest child hood memories in that store.
Thank You Bass pro shop for reading my review, I would...
Read moreFirst experience with Bass Pro Shops and will not be back. Purchased a firearm online on 08/03/21, was informed it would take 5-10 days to ship to the store which is understandable. After many days pass, I start to call and check where it is, they are unable to track it for me saying they aren't able to see where it is. On the 3rd call, they found the order in the safe, apparently it has been there for a while. This was on 08/21. If I didn't continue to call, it would still be "lost in the safe" and I would never had known it was ready.
When I went to pick up the firearm, there was one person in front of me in line and the wait was 45 minutes before I was finally helped. Extremely understaffed hunting section which is the only way to pick up an online order by the way. There were only 1-2 people working in this section and the whole line was getting impatient. I can't believe management thinks this is an effective way to staff that section but that's besides the point, I guess anything to save a little money on employment costs.
When I left, the line was ~10 people deep, I can only imagine how long that will take for those in the back. When I got up front, I was told I cannot pick up the firearm because my address on my ID is an old address (which is understandable). I would need to come back with a second form of ID and wait in the line again. Not happening. I canceled the order at that time, no issues with the refund. I HIGHLY SUGGEST you find a different company to purchase firearm or anything hunting related. Save yourself the headache! With bass pro shops, you'll get long waits, long lines, and long shipping time with workers can't help with tracking. TBH this is the first negative review I've ever written, but this deserved it. I can't believe how many things go wrong with one order, never experienced anything like it at any other store. Will never be back and will spread the word if I hear anyone planning to...
Read moreWent to Bass to search for a red dot sight for my firearm. Went to the gun counter and scanned the QR code that states a place will be held for assistance from an associate and your spot will be held. My name was the ONLY name in que with a wait time of 5 minutes. My husband went off looking at stuff, not standing next to me. I literally watched an associate in a black Bass Pro shirt assistant two other male customers who #1 never scanned into the wait list and #2 appeared at the counter after me. I kept staring at the associate and he never once acknowledged me. Is it because I’m a woman at a gun counter? My final wait time was 15 minutes until someone else came into the area and said my name. I will tell you this, I’ve received excellent service at Sportsman’s Warehouse. It was so great I purchased my firearm there. I will be going to Sportsman’s from here on out. At they know how to treat a lady with respect and acknowledgement.
Update: I was very surprised to receive a phone call from the GM , Levi, with Bass Pro. We spoke at length about what happened on Wednesday night at his store. He was very kind and patiently listened to me regale that nights events. He offered compensation for my trouble as he wanted to right the wrong. I only asked for his reps to be trained on customer service. I didn’t want this to happen to another customer much less another woman who might already feel intimidated by the gun counter. He agreed. At the end of conversation he assured me that he would take this issue to heart and I absolutely believe him. After speaking with Levi, I felt he really does care about the customers and is willing to make the necessary changes in order to improve customer service. I want to thank Levi personally for not only extending his support to me but for caring about people in general. I will give Bass a second chance, hopefully, next time around I will be acknowledged...
