I want to start this with I always loved the location on baseline (that burnt down) food and service was fantastic (make sure you read the end of this review). I was very excited for this new location to open.
Since this location opened I have found it to be sub par for some reason. I keep trying to like it but every time I go there is always mistakes. Not little ones but ones that any basic restaurant should not make. Forgotten / mistakes to meals (like everytime). Bad service like they don't care your there. Even on a mellow night you can't seem to find your server and it's like the others know the way around so they don't need to help a fellow server. They go out of their way to find way around you.
On my most recent visit I invited a family member who is out here for school. This young person is going to ASU for education and putting herself through school. She mentioned finding a service job is hard during the off season / summer (she works at a school as a aid but obviously no work during the summer) and like most in education need 2nd jobs to get by. I encouraged her to look outside the Tempe/ Scottsdale area and try a local establishment like the hub. She promptly asked for a application and filled it out while we ate. She than turned it in to whoever said they were the manager. On my way out I grabbed a toothpick and poked my head around the host stand to toss the plastic only to see the application in the trash...... Obviously I was upset to see it there but also realize it's not my business so it shouldn't matter. But this certainly shows the kind of culture that this restaurant has. Being a local small business owner I can tell you it starts from the top. There are always bad apples but little things like this would never cut it in my establishment. Toss it in the back or even when you close. Either way I'm sorry for those that work there and work for the management of the hub. Especially those that reply on this business for their livelihood.
This is the straw that broke my back. Going to miss a few things about this restaurant but not enough to make me want to sit here again. Good luck hub. Your...
Read moreWe recently visited this establishment while on vacation, expecting a nice evening, but the experience was incredibly disappointing. We are a group of adults in our 50s who had been enjoying our day and decided to stop by for a meal and a couple of drinks. However, things quickly took a negative turn when our server, Oscar, refused to serve us alcohol unless we confirmed we weren’t driving. We were completely caught off guard by this question, especially considering that we had responsibly walked there. None of us were being loud or disrespectful, so it felt completely unjustified for him to ask that in the first place.
It wasn’t just the refusal that upset us—it was the feeling that we were being unfairly judged. Despite being in control and just looking for a meal and a few drinks, Oscar treated us as if we were a problem from the start. Rather than approaching the situation professionally, he escalated things by bringing over his manager. Instead of attempting to resolve the situation, they told us to leave, leaving us shocked that bewildered as to exactly what we had done to deserve this type of treatment.
As if being asked to leave wasn’t bad enough, the situation got worse. After telling us to go, they made us wait an unreasonable amount of time for our bills. It felt like they were trying to irritate us further. When we finally paid, we had to go looking for both Oscar and the manager just to get our change back, which only added to the frustration.
We tried asking both Oscar and the manager what exactly led them to believe we were unfit to be served, but neither could give us a straight answer. It was baffling and incredibly frustrating. We understand the importance of responsibility with alcohol, but this situation was handled without any respect or professionalism. Instead of treating us like valued customers, we were made to feel like we didn’t belong.
This entire experience was humiliating and completely unfair. We came in expecting a pleasant time and left feeling disrespected. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and we can’t recommend this place to anyone who values being treated with basic decency...
Read moreThe place was clean. There were 8 of us, but we told the waiter that more were coming. We ended up being a group of twelve during happy hour. Our server took our drink order ( I ordered a Coors Light) and delivered them a few at a time over a ten minute period. 5 minutes after everyone else had their drinks, I was informed that they were out of Coors Light, both bottle and draft. What restaurant runs out of Coors Light on a Friday night? As 4 more of our party arrived and sat for ten minutes, I had to get up and ask our waitress to please take their drink orders. 45 minutes into our stay, I had to ask another waitress to please take our food order, since our original waitress didn't seem to care, or was just flat-out incompetent. The new waitress was great. We were hoping she would stick with us. No such luck. The food was good. In the time we were there, we watched as three separate couples sat down, were ignored for at least ten minutes each, and up and left. I don't think any employee or manager noticed or even cared that customers were walking out. The place just wasn't that busy. It was 3:00 in the afternoon. If staff and management can't handle that crowd, I dread to think what happens when it is actually busy. As a group, or alone, none of us will probably ever go back. There are so many places to choose from. Why settle for that? I had nachos and two beers. My bill was $38.00. Wow! So it wasn't really happy hour and the "teacher discount" was never applied. Please don't advertise it, if you're not going...
