Dave's Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Mesquite

Although I understand mistakes happen customer service should be seamless when visiting any establishment. Customer service is a big part of the face of any company. Today was my first and last time EVERY visiting Dave's Hot Chicken. I am not from Texas and where I am from there is no Dave's Chicken when I learned of this business here I decided today since I was in Mesquite are to visit for lunch. I came through drive through and was asked was this my first time I placed my order which was the number 1 mild, my total came up to $11.98. I normally use my card to purchase but because I had cash on me I decided to use cash and I handed the cashier 20.03 after handing her the money she left the window open, so I was able to see her and as I was watching her she was looking confused as to what to do with the .03 cent. After a minute or so she hands me back $7.03. I looked and said I gave you $20.03 so that you could give me $7.05 she proceeded to argue with me and say, "no it's on the receipt", I said " I gave you $20.03 so that I could get a nickel and she just stood there now looking at me light a deer in headlights. I then said you still did not give me my correct change you gave me $7.03 and based off what you entered in the cash register you put I gave you $20.02. Long story longer It would be most important have people working with great attitudes and then not only that someone who can do basic math. After I said to her "you know, never mind don't worry about it" she looks at the girl that was standing next to her and they both just started laughing as to if this was a joke or something!!! So, after that disaster I get all the way back to the office only to open a container of OLD MESS!! Not only was the chicken not fresh but it looked as if someone took chunks out of the chicken. At first, I said maybe it fell off, but no this is extremely unacceptable!!! I am beyond frustrated due to me wasting my gas, money and time to come patronize an establishment that plays around not only with customers money, but their food and the staff is SOOOOOO unprofessional. I will never eat at Daves Hot Chicken again this was the WORST first...

I took my daughter and her friend for lunch today. I ordered the cauli bites and fries and my daughter and her fried had the number 4. The cauli bites didn't have much flavor even with the rub and dipping sauce but it was palatable. The fries were cooked to perfection but, the piece of bread on my plate was pretty hard, like day old bread, although, it was explained that their bread is delivered every morning. My daughter and friend thoroughly enjoyed their meals, especially the pickles and orange frozen drink. The young lady that took our order was very nice, suggestive and helpful as well as Ms. V (I think she was a manager), who is very kind, personable and has a welcoming spirit. Today was our first time trying Dave’s hot chicken and I’ll tell you what… I am so impressed. The restaurant looks amazing, it’s got a great vibe and it’s very very clean. We loved the choice of music, perfect volume for internal conversation but not over powering. The food was hands down amazing… Fair warning… the sliders are massive. Eating more than one I would be impressed. Great quantity and quality of food here in mesquite.

Sara was absolutely amazing up at the front. She noticed us standing back looking at the menu and helped us out with understanding the entire menu. She is incredulity knowledgeable, has a great attitude and smile. Thank you for all that you’ve done! We will definitely be returning to our local mesquite branch to try some other items on the menu!
