Wanted to try this new location out due to the reviews on social media. My Neice & I went, there is very limited parking as to be expected on Veterans. We walked in and was greeted, by a not so much a welcoming host but a person that merely just told us to sit at the bar. Sitting at the bar, there was a young lady working behind the bar, she didn’t greet us, speak to us, say she’d be right with us simply Nothing. We asked another customer how did they order, they said through a QR code. After 17 minutes we finally got the attention of a passing by server (Mya whom was very sweet) she helped us & we placed our order. We asked if we could come back & pick up since we had already been waiting at most 21 minutes before even being acknowledged and able to order. We left went to Total Wines (about 15 minutes) and returned. Upon entering we stated we placed an order and was waiting. We were told to sit at the end of the bar, we did. After about 8 minutes a young man, whom was also courteous, brought our food out. The presentation was nice and it was plenty food, smelled nice. He thanked us & told us to enjoy. Now upon getting home (4 minutes away) and hoping it would be great….. It’s not. The flavor is bland, typical I selected spicy and there is no spice. The corn taste to be overheated/cooked with no flavor. Rice & peas also tasted old. The cabbage was the only thing that had flor, not extra nearly some steamed cabbage. Paying $70 for 2 dinners was extreme especially with the unfriendly atmosphere and the bland taste of the food. I’ve had great Jamaican food but this was not it. The place is nicely decorated, pleasant but the service is horrible & staff not as friendly. For this to be an establishment open 30 days plus we expected more. Unfortunately this won’t be a place we patronize. Wishing them the best of luck & much prosperity. Chicken taste like it has been over seasoned with Tony’s Creole seasoning & cayenne. I taste no ginger or jerk spices and it’s no where near what we expected. Waste of money. Had the staff been more excited and welcoming. It may have been a better...
Read more12 October 2025 Visiting from Atlanta. I was craving curry chicken with peas & rice so bad. Because I was in the NOLA area, I just automatically assumed that this spot would be mind-blowing. Sadly, it was not. It was just okay. I told one of the chefs to his face that his food wasn't all that good. The curry wasn't curried enough for me; they were stingy with it. I'm Caribbean, so I know good, authentic curry when I taste it.
My mac & cheese had a nauseating after taste. But the potato salad was delectable! My beef patty was extremely flattened, as if it was rolled over by a tire, lol. My cocoa bread wasn't soft.
Non-island folks and tourists must be the ones who keep this place in business because ain't no way true island people would eat here and say it's 5 stars. Would I come here again the next time I'm in NOLA? No. I'll seek another Caribbean location.
I will say that the customer service was good, though. The servers were attentive. The décor of this spot is trendy and well-done -- perfect for photo...
Read moreThis place was really wonderful. The moment we walked in we were greeted in. Our server was phenomenal, I saw her welcome most people in and even helped tables that were not hers. I wish I got her name (she was the girlie with the colorful glasses & short). I loved that she was very friendly but not too pushy. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals. I got the jerk salmon combo paired with Caribbean Mac & potato salad and it was TO DIE for !!! The seasoning was on point and very spicy but not overbearing. I loved that the rice wasn’t too seasoned that it balanced out the fish. The potato salad was a little seasoned for me but it was sooo good!!! Nothing was dry and everything was just moist enough. Can’t wait to come here regularly and try other things! My man enjoyed his oxtails… his only qualms was he felt the Brussels sprouts weren’t seasoned but still overall the best Jamaican food I...
