Ordered cheese and mushroom pizzas by the slice. The pizza tasted just fine, not at all bad nor anything amazing. However, the waitress seemed a bit unpleasant. First off, this was seemingly, like a regular pizzaria; where you place your order, to the cashier, receive your item, and you sit down and eat, right..? Well apparently not. My boyfriend and I did not want to hold up the line, so we figured we would simply ask for a menu, and decide what we want, instead of having people in the line behind us wait. That way we donāt have to rush, and they donāt have to wait either. But apparently, it canāt be that simple. So a waitress comes by, she was perfectly pleasant at first, and gave us our water. My bf and I we both decided we really just want pizza by the slice, so we were looking for that on the menu. Now Iāve been at plenty of pizzarias in my life, and all of them included their āpizza by the sliceā item on the menu. But this restaurant didnāt, which is also, perfectly fine, no big deal. So When I couldnāt find that info on their menu, I politely asked the waitress, if they sell pizza by the slice. Well, apparently me asking that was some appealing thing because the waitress immediately seemed annoyed at me for asking that, and told me that, didnāt I see, when I came in, that they do sell pizza by the slice. So I told her, yes, but that information is not included on the menu so that is why I asked. So then, she proceeded to tell me the same thing again. Now I didnāt tell her this directly, but listen lady, Iām not a stupid child, yes, I noticed that when I came in, but it is a perfectly reasonable question to ask if that is something not included in your menu. How about, the polite thing, is to not show attitude, and just tell your customer, yes, we do sell them by the slice. That really is all you had to say, and we couldāve just avoided an unpleasant exchange altogether. Anyways, the chef/cashier who eventually took our order was perfectly fine, and we paid and left. So nothing against him. But yeah, maybe next time, the waitress can be advised to not show attitude for no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ONLY reason I gave this place 2 stars is because I didn't want my comments to be written off, as 1 star reviews often are. So I had planned a trip into Metuchen with my dog to go to a specific pet store, for lunch I went on Slice to order because Joey Ds shares a parking lot. It said 25-35 so I went for a spin with the dog, came back at 30 minutes to check on the status. The team had no idea about my order, kept saying I called the wrong place even though I said it was through an online app. "call again! We'll see if you called" like patronizing me when I kept saying it was online. They all just kept yelling about me calling the wrong place even though I'm literally showing them the confirmation. Finally one guy looks at the printer and there's my order. Which, when he was confirming was yelling at me to confirm with my phone (dude it's 4 items, I know what I got) The main guy looked at it and said "give me 15 minutes boss". No apologies no "our bad" but it was working at least. Went inside to buy a drink, the inside is the owners office, apparently so he was on the phone, TV was basting, employees were laughing and carrying on. It was so chaotic and unwelcoming. My drink was so old that the carbonation was totally gone even though the safety ring was on. Food came out and I wished they took the full 35 minutes. Fries and rice balls were soggy greasy and cold. The pizza was decent but was no where close to enough to salvage any part of that experience. Avoid unless under duress or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJOEY D'S is the BEST PIZZA in NEW JERSEY - POSSIBLY NY, TOO! One of the other reviewers mentioned that the number of good pizzerias in Brooklyn or Queens are sadly declining - having lived in Booklyn, i can tell you that nothing compares to a the pizza you were able to get in any of the 5 boroughs. Joey D's is on par with those kinds of pizzerias. Forget dominoes, pizza hut or olive garden, they don't quite have the true Italian flavor. Go to JOEY D'S for the REAL NEW YORK ITALIAN pizza and Italian cuisine experience!! They have an extensive menu of genuine Italian dishes, salads, sides- you name it, they have it! The pizza is awesome - thin crisp crust with the best tomato sauce ever - practically as good as my grandmother's! The restaurant is clean,, always fast fast fast delivery, very nice people - be sure to give your waitress, waiter or driver a handsome tip - remember that they bust their butts so you don't have to!!!
