Mia's Garden — Restaurant in Metuchen

I’ve been coming the this place for so many years. I just looked at my receipts and last year alone I spent $1543 dollars here. Ever time I pick up the food, I leave at minimum a $5 tip, many people don’t tip at all. Normally at this restaurant when you spent a certain amount, you get a free egg roll, fried rice, etc… NEVER once have they collect the coupon. Most times I don’t even bother to order my free item. Today when I got to pick up my food I did indeed ask for my free $1.99 egg roll. They would not give it to me, bc I did not have the physical coupon. I’ve never once even asked for a refund for missing items during delivery etc… I’ve always called and told them “just get me next time.” I’m so appalled that they wouldn’t give me my egg roll today… talk about a short sighted business. First off, you lost my $5 tip today, so you actually would have been better off just giving me the free item. Plus, I will think twice next time I am craving Chinese food. I will also now stop recommending you to friends and neighbors here in Metuchen. Ps- you actually messed my order up...

Have eaten from here many times only because of convenience. The food from one visit to the next is inconsistent. Over time the "main" ingredient of whatever dish you order (beef, shrimp, pork, chicken - even the main veggies) has shrunk in portion from what was once a decent amount of the ingredient to a bare minimum leaving one with an "is that all" feeling so you fill up on mostly rice.

The staff - not overly friendly (the dude that's been behind the counter the last few times is pretty rude and largely inattentive to order details). Service with a smile, or even the facade of an appreciation for your patronage - non existent. $10 minimum to use a credit or debit card which is understandable. As mentioned, I only buy the occasional meal there because it's convenient, I need something quick or it's late and there's no other nearby alternative.

I gave it a one star only because it's impossible to give it anything less! The place is a rip-off. I ordered my food online to save time/hassle. However, they charged an extra dollar for "service" fee. I thought that was messed up, but whatever, I wanted to try the place. I paid with my card because I didn't have any cash on me that day. I figured the service fee was probably because my order was small and I'm paying with the card.

When I got to the place, the lady behind the counter was rude. Told me that there's an EXTRA charge for paying with credit card. So I ended up paying $2 extra on a $6 meal!!

To top it off, the food was terrible. The chicken tasted stringy and leathery. Felt like it was left over chicken from the night before. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. STAY AWAY!!
