When in the Cape May area, Sunnyside Cafe is one of the most stop spots that always delivers a great breakfast. Prior to Sunnyside, it was Clary's which was also great. Happy to know Sunnyside picked up when they left.
No matter where you go on a morning in the peak summer season, there will be lines. On a recent Sunday morning visit, there of course will be a line which moved quickly.
Upon sitting down, coffee was poured which is always a great start to breakfast. I ordered the Western Omlette (ham, onion and Peppers) and my son ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon. Food came out pretty quick and was hot and tasty.
While there were a lot of vacationers such as myself, judging from the servers interactions with certain customers, this place is also where many locals come.
One thing that raises that raises the bar from ordinary to extraordinary is the variety of hot sauces that are available to try out. It should also be noted if you like a particular sauce, it also also for sale. My favorite this meal was the mango habenero. If you like the heat, try the Naga Jolokia pepper sauce. Use it sparingly as it has a lot of kick.
All in all, Sunnyside is a solid place to grab some breakfast with good food and service. Located off Exit 9 on the GSP, it is fairly close to the Wildwood's...
Read moreYeah the food was not traditional breakfast đ disappointed... THANK GOD WE HAD A GREAT SERVER OR ID BE A 1 STAR!
We had THE SUNNYSIDE BREAKFAST with 2 eggs over hard blueberry pancakes that were rather crusty(overcooked) blueberry butter was ok, had sausage links and home fries that were amazing.
We also had chipped cream beef which must've been made with fat free or 1% milk and was TRANSLUCENT NOT CREAMY AT ALL MORE OF A GELATINE (very much of a turn off) -thanks for the refund on that!
Miss the toast, bigger helpings of home fries, easy to chew/ cut pancakes đ„ and having a full plate Instead of a minute amount of food.
I'd love to see some changes as of now I don't recommend the place to any friends or family. To think 2 years ago I've invited a few navy buds to eat here and the food was delicious and I took my girlfriend here and she disgusted is an upset.
-Go back to being Clareys. Goodluck. Steve's on 47 would probably be a...
Read moreThe food was a meh. The place was also a meh. Our waitress wasnât terrible, but also wasnât great. One in our party ordered a side of scrapple, however said that she âcouldnât carry itâ after it coming out, practically flavorless and barley hot, so we figured out that it was a little bit of a white lie because she forgot to put it in. The scrapple I got was crunchy and good, but the other one sucked. The food was an eh. Wonât be in a rush to come back.
Around 12ish ours later:
Two of us, have now had major stomach pains, and issues, since about after an hour after our visit. The only thing we had in common was the scrapple; as no one else has had pains as such. Please take this in a precautionary measure, as Iâm just trying to...
