Cowboy Creamery — Restaurant in Middlefield Township

So we had an ice cream cake last night from Cowboy Creamery in Middlefield for my wife's birthday. Unpopular opinion, but I have issues with that place and how they operate.

1. Tip creeping... I literally went to the freezer, grabbed my own cake and brought it up front to pay for it, used my card, and the machine automatically added 25% gratuity to order, and the only option to add "No tip" was on the 2nd page on the payment tablet. You literally have to search for it. Nothing against tipping for tipped employees, but this doesn't warrant it.

2.) 4% fee for using credit card. I don't have an issue with paying a fee for using a card, but there is no sign that indicates that they charge a fee. Given the option to pay cash, or any other method, I might have considered it. I understand the purpose of charging a fee, but a merchant should be up front with it.

3.) I was charged tax on a food item (that isn't pop), and a dine-in tax for a food item that i was taking to go. I even had a bag to carry the item out of the store, (which I'm surprised they didn't charge me for that).

Overall, this is the 2nd time consecutively this has happened. When you're already paying a $45 premium for an 8" cake. It's kind of offensive to get nickled and dimed on top of that...

nobody likes"sneaky" extra charges on top of already high prices. Seems very...

Talk about not even caring about your customers or another human. My family was out here to have a nice time and my 5 year old tried to get a game off the table and the table fell over on him and landed on his face. I get that’s not cowboy’s fault. But just standing there?? And watching this 5 year old screaming in pain with blood all over my wife and doing nothing but whispering amongst themselves?? The only people there to help was another family. So we are super thankful to them but the employees had no care in the world and didn’t even ask if they could help or if he was ok. We are currently in the emergency room and he is getting stitches in his lip. We will not be visiting here again and will be sharing this story with everyone we know.

Real handmade ice cream here not soft serve fake airy stuff, but many flavors are a combination of three or four ingredients and not a single plain chocolate or butter pecan. But their ice cream cakes are what puts them above all other specialty ice cream stores as it’s made with their delicious real ice cream and real baked cake and it’s quite fabulous. My family could not stop saying “mmm, so good.” Service could’ve been better we came in on a very hot day when not another person was in the store and yet we stood around a while until we finally asked can we please try a sample. Not sure if they were looking at online orders, but with at least four workers, certainly one should be serving...
