This is an Amish owned and operated marketplace. I'm not overly familiar with the whole place because the only thing I went in for was a soft pretzel. I had previously been there and I'd bought the breakfast pretzel thing with eggs, cheese, sausage, and bacon inside a pretzel. I gotta be honest here...it was kinda gross. When I bit into it the pretzel part was fine but all the stuff inside was just like a huge, hot, wad of slime that was roughly the temperature of lava. It seriously turned me off...so much so that I've never been able to order another one. But, if all you want is a soft pretzel, now, those are very good. They're white different from the soft pretzel you'd be used to that is served in most places that sell them. I do also know they have a doughnut store inside, too, and they are said to fantastic. I've been told they're better than Maggie's Doughnuts, but I've never verified that statement. There's a couple other places inside, too, but I can't remember what they are. It's done a bit differently here, too. You go get the items you want from each store, and then you pay for all of the items at one place instead of at each store. There is a table right next to the doors where a young Amish girl will be seated in front of a cash register. You just tell her what you have and she rings it up just prior to exiting the building. Service is alright but the girls working there don't show a whole lot of really wanting to help. They just do their jobs without a whole lot of customer interaction or small talk/friendliness. They aren't rude or anything but they don't exactly go out of their way to be help, either. Mostly it's that they are there to work, not flirt or waste time engaging...

We picked up a few things during our first visit here: peanuts, donuts, caramel-pecan ice cream, a loaf of soft white bread, a slice of pepperoni pizza, and a jar of sugar-free pineapple jam.
No food pics this time — I was way too hungry! 😅 We ate the pizza and ice cream right in the car.
The flowers, though, were gorgeous — and the $25 vases were well worth it (photos posted!).
As for the food: • The peanuts looked great but were under-roasted — not quite done through, and I say that as someone who loves peanuts in all their forms. • The bread had a soft texture I’m used to, but the taste was bland and yeasty. I tried it with butter and jam, as a sandwich, and to scoop pasta sauce — still didn’t do much for me. • The sugar-free pineapple jam was gentle in flavor. It’s a nice option if you’re looking for something mild, but for me, it didn’t add the tropical zing I was hoping for. • The donuts were dense and very greasy — more on the bready side than light and fluffy. • The pizza was below average. And considering how hungry I was (which usually makes food taste better!), that says something.
Saving the best for last: the caramel-pecan ice cream was a win! Cool, creamy, and just what we needed on a blazing hot day. That was definitely the highlight...
Read moreFirst do not get fooled in to any other place in Middlefield for donuts. This place in my far the best and have the biggest selection. I have tried all the local places. They will even custom make any ideas you have. Also the filled pretzels are amazing. Always hot and tons of filling. I’ve had breakfast ones and lunch ones and have loved everyone. This place is a must if you’re visiting Middlefield.
UPDATE: Been going here since it opened and everything above is still true but the prices are getting out of control. Bought something last month for $10 and now it’s $11.50. Bought a loaf of fresh bread there yesterday for $5.50 which is 60 cents higher than D&S which everyone knows their prices are high. I’m afraid the greed is going to start to scare away customers. I noticed someone else mentioned this in their review. To the owner please take notice before there’s too much damage to undo. You do have a...
