I was looking for some place in Middlefield Ohio that I have not eaten at before. I asked my son and he recommended Middlefield tavern. I was looking for either a home cooked or a gourmet restaurant style hamburger. I couldn't have been more surprised when I brought the hamburger home and opened it up and saw that it was as large as a R* Robin gourmet burger and tasted exactly like a gourmet burger. The toppings were fresh and the cheese was absolutely delicious and real. It was on a very fancy and delicious fresh large bun. It came complete with a large pickle slice and I ordered french fries for $1.50 more. The french fries were equal to three large Mc**ald's french fries. But they were thick cut and they were absolutely tasty. I was absolutely gobsmacked when I bid into that burger. so I started looking at the menu and I noticed on the menu they have all kinds of delicious sandwiches and entrees and appetizers that can be ordered. Okay so it's a 5 out of 5 stars for the sandwich and its size. I've got to say that the actual 5 out of 5 stars should be a 7 out of 7 stars because the price was insanely low. I cannot believe that I ate a gourmet burger which was a third pound burger with cheese lettuce tomato onion and bacon with a super large order of fries that I walked out the door after paying only $8 and some change. Insanely great! I recommend anybody that's looking for an absolute value and a great tasting home cooked burger to go to Middlefield tavern in...
Read moreVery happy with our lunch here. Busy but not crowded on a Saturday afternoon, service was prompt and attentive. Definitely a locals place, the group that came in after us had their drinks on the table before even saying a word to the bartender! But a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, we didn't feel like "out-of-towners" at all.
I got a the Black and Blue Burger, husband got the Reuben. Burger was absolutely delicious. Perfect cook on the beef, that nice flat-top crust and they did not skimp on the bleu cheese. Husband said the Reuben was very good as well, generous helping of corned beef, melted cheese, and sauerkraut. Fried were golden brown and crispy with good amount of salt (I hate undersalted fries).
So happy to discover this little gem within a reasonable drive from our house, will definitely be making the trip again...
Read moreWork took me out this way on a Saturday night during the Perseids last summer. Found in here a really impressive amount of outgoing, welcoming, sociable, deeply-interesting people. And ended up closing the place down, heh. The bar itself is really cool. Internet-connected jukebox. A second floor with a pool table in apparent good condition. Outdoor seating in the nice weather with the Amish buggies going by. Would love to have a place like this for my local.
p.s. Kudos for a proper pour with the Martini/Manhattans, and not drowning them in ice. That's a real, shameful epidemic in the world right now. And from the people who appreciate value and not having to drink like 40 ounces of fluids to get a good time going... and value being treated like adults who know how to handle a strong drink when they order one... it's much...
