We have friends in Caldwell that think their Garbanzo's has great pizza. We decided to come over from Star and try the Middleton location.
It was a Monday night about 5:45 pm. There were very few people in the restaurant. However, they seem to do a great takeout and delivery business. There were probably 6-7 people working, and it seemed like it might be a family operated restaurant.
the Interior is basic wood tables and we sat on a kind of pew bench. Comfortable. There is not great lighting, and the salad bar does not have any light over it, so it is difficult to see what you are grabbing.
The young man that helped us with our order was nice and friendly. We ordered a medium pepperoni pie and two salad bars. The salad bar wasn't bad but it wasn't great, either, though I did like the bleu cheese dressing. We sat and ate our salad, then waited for the pizza.
The tall, blond woman that brought out our pizza just put it on the table and walked away, unsmiling. Later, we noticed her smiling and joking with the other workers. They all seemed to have a good time, but they weren't paying any attention to the customers.
The pizza was hot, the pepperoni ample, and the cheese melted. The flavor was just OK, as was the crust, which is something other reviewers seem to really like. When we finished, we said thank you to everyone working behind the counter, but not one person looked at us or said anything. Maybe they didn't even notice us.
We have a few pizza places in Star. I think we'll just do takeout in Star, or go to one of our favored places in Eagle...
Read moreUpdated from one star to five. Things have changed for the better. Service is now prompt at the counter and our last several orders have been correct. The managers/owner have ensured the service is now as good as the food. Thank you!
The one star is for the online order system and the service not the food. We love supporting out local businesses, the food is amazing, but we are about ready to move on from Garbonzo’s. The last few carry out orders, I waited at the counter while 6 or more employees talked, walked around, talked more, rolled dough balls, then finally someone asks if I’ve been helped. It was not busy, again, people were rolling dough balls. I add 10-15 minutes to the time our order is supposed to be ready, and it has not been ready one time when I get there. We had a missing item each time that I had to wait for it to be made, or it would be taken from another carry out order from on top of the oven, so someone else probably ended up waiting when they arrived. The online ordering is the worst of all the systems I’ve used. I’ve had to start over when it looses the order info midway thru almost every time. I would prefer to call, but always end up on hold, multiple times, and the order is wrong when I pick it up. My family loves the food and so do I. I just don’t understand the consistent problems with service, missing items, and errors in the orders. The only answers I can think of are poor training or lack of supervision. Read moreTypical small town American pizza joint. Decent pizza. Fast delivery service and the food is consistently good. It's not fancy and hipsters probably wouldn't like it but whatever. Good people serving good food and providing a gathering place in a small town.
Update as of Feb 2022, they have completely changed their online ordering system. It's pretty terrible! I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to place an order and it all went back to having to install an app on my phone which I'm not doing. Creating a web app is great but having to actually install something is so 5 years ago. Then when I figured out that they're collecting a bunch of info that they don't actually need, I have to ask myself what they're collecting it for. You guys need to think very deliberately about what info you're collecting and what you plan to use that info for. I can only assume that this kind of collection is either for nefarious purposes or your new web person is new and on the lower experience side of the spectrum. The old system was great because it was easy and didn't collect anything except what you needed to know. This indeed will make me think twice about ordering from you in the future.
