The dining area is quite small, so when we walked in, it automatically felt awkward with several eyes staring at us with 3 little people...similar vibe to getting on an airplane with babes. Our kids are pretty well behaved so we knew they would not cause major disruptions and proceeded to wait to be seated. The only option for our group was a high top which we accepted as we could visually see they only had two small regular dining tables that were already occupied. Service wise, the waitress was very friendly and definitely made us feel welcome to take our time despite the line of people waiting at the entrance. It became clear that some of the guests were regulars. Due to the spacing, it was very easy to hear all the conversations around us which some may find entertaining.
Food wise, i really enjoyed the appetizers but was not thrilled with the entrees. We had the beef teriyaki and scallion pancakes....the terayaki was a little more on the sweet side but very nice and tender. Truly enjoyed the scallion pancakes. We also did beef fried rice and what was supposed to be crispy pad thai. I have yo say, i ALWAYS get pad thai's at thai restaurants as a way to guage how good a restaurant is. It was not at all what i expected in terms of flavour profile and texture. I was also surprised that a good portion of the menu seemed to be american chinese food (broadly speaking).
Overall, i really liked our server, and came to appreciate the quaintness of the environment but if i were strictly assessing the food, i have had better. I would certainly go there if in the neighborhood for...
Read moreI have a hard time believing any of the reviews about this place. The service was nice and fast for a to-go order, and that's the only reason I'm giving more than one star.
General Tsao's chicken: Garbage. Basically honey chicken but with a couple of hot peppers in it which do nothing. Batter wasn't crispy and it was sweet enough to be a dessert. It was inedibly disgusting, and not even General Tsao's.
Kung Pao chicken: For some reason they feel fine omitting ginger, garlic, bamboo shoots, and satisfaction from this should-have-been-a-safe-bet staple. The piles of overcooked green peppers and nearly half-cup of grease I poured out of the container were just gross. At least it wasn't trying to give me diabetes, I guess.
Tung's fried rice: The fact that they think that adding some cooked egg, flavorless oil, and piles of RAW garlic is worth PUTTING THE NAME OF THE RESTAURANT ON IT tells me they're maybe getting their recipes from allrecipes.com or something. This isn't special, it's just bad food.
Don't waste your money. If the best Danvers has to offer is this bad, just learn to make it yourself from YouTube or something. You certainly can't do any worse than Tung's...
Read moreI was visiting the city and decided to chose this restaurant due to all of it’s great ratings. Unfortunately I was highly disappointed from what I just experienced. Before ordering, I asked the lady at the front desk how many wings come with your order of chicken wings? The lady told me 6 wings. But when I finally got to open the bag, it was 3 legs and 3 drums… so technically it was only 3 wings together. It definitely was not worth that price for 3 wings that was barely seasoned. I also ordered shrimp lo mein, which was very mushy, and the shrimps was not fully cooked at all! My colleague who ordered rice, and also said his rice was also very mushy. The little bit of food we tried immediately made our stomachs hurt. Nothing we ate tasted well at all, nor was it worth the money we spent. This was a first and last...
