I have to say that I was a frequent Sol Bean fanatic for years, but I feel they “sold out” with the new location. What I loved about Sol Bean in their old location that even though small, it had its own unique identity and the staff was always friendly in their tie dye shirts! I was excited for the restaurant when they announced opening in a bigger location, but they completely forgot to move their identity. I went in there today with a friend visiting town as we used to go all the time! Neither of us had been to the new location yet. We were impressed with the sign out front, but good feeling was quickly gone when we walked inside. To be honest, it felt like we were walking into a typical chain restaurant. HUGE disappointment was no chalkboard menu for non-seasonal items. Big area, but seemed it had the same amount of tables as the old location. We had to go to the counter to find a menu and no one even acknowledged us at first as they two girls were talking behind the counter. We felt like a burden and as we were ordering, the girl told us to “hold on” as she was entering the computer system. Now, the old location had a cash box and calculator, but never had an issue and the staff used to have full on conversations and SMILES when I was ordering. It always felt like they loved what they did, but today’s staff felt like they were just there to pay the bills. It got worse when I was informed they don’t do iced coffee “at the moment”. This baffled me, but I bought a bottle water instead (not realizing they gave out free water). I got my favorite açaí bowl, but was disappointed at the use of plastic containers, the ridiculously tiny portions as well as the fact that I felt like I was eating ice chunks. The wooden spoons were just gross as well. I miss the cute bowls, I miss the friendly staff and I miss the unique vibe. It’s pretty much safe to say that Sol Bean has lost its soul and has just become another subpar option. Could have done more with the space other than making a giant kids area for moms to drop their kids to run around. Not worth the 20 minute drive anymore. Extremely disappointed and just wanted to vent about it.....ps where is the Bunny...
Read moreI've been coming here since it was in the old location, and I have to say I miss some of the stuff they used to have on their menu. I used to get their bowls all the time, wish I remembered the names, or at least have kept their old menu so I could try to re-create some of their bowls. I understand they have to keep their customers interested by changing menu items from time to time so I totally understand that. But the main reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because they no longer make the juices fresh from order. I came in today and everything I ordered except for the wheat grass shot was already bottled. I told the girl at the front counter if she can make it fresh and she said they now try to keep away from the extracting juicers and just use the one other juicer/blender they keep in the back. She said only if the juice is "custom made" they will juice it fresh. I wanted to ask her if she can just pretend the juice im ordering is custom made lol but I held back to be polite....I guess the bottled juices arent bad, but the fact they are sitting in plastic doesnt sit well with me, aside from the fact they lose their nutritional properties the longer they sit. When I make my juices from scratch at home I drink them right away for that reason alone, i dont store anything so I can get the most benefits from them. Maybe because they are so busy they are trying to be more efficient to cater to mass production? I dont know, but I cant deny I am...
Read moreI’d like to start off saying that I’ve been a loyal sol bean customer for 4-5 years now. I’m not sure if there has been a change in management or what but within the last year I noticed a decrease in quality and stopped going as much. I was excited about the new location and thought things would change for the better, but I was wrong. Things got much worse. I was there a few months back and got a meg melt and it was fine, however, it definitely was different and less flavorful than the old meg melt. I thought I’d give the new location a second chance and ordered one of my favorites the cherry bomb bowl. I was astounded that my smoothie bowl looked curdled and gross. It tasted like ice. I’m not sure if they are pre-making these now but they are much different than the açaí and smoothie bowls they had at the old location. I ended up only eating half because it was so curdled and offputting. I won’t be returning back and I’m sad because I used to love sol bean so much! I hope they...
