Overall: 9/10. Excellent food options make this hidden gem a hit! Offering superb food, drinks, and service to match, I highly recommend this place to anyone - especially those who are craving a great, inspiring burger and phenomenal French fries.
Atmosphere: 5/10 - very small diner feel with overflow seating in the space next door. They desperately need to redo the interior.
Food allergies: ?/10 - unsure about dietary restrictions.
Drinks: 8/10 - While they don't have an exhaustive list of beer and cocktails compared to other places, they do execute their list well. The whiskey selection is far superior to others around, that's for sure. Beer selection is acceptable and par for the course.
Appetizers: 9.3/10 - the appetizer list was on the small/medium sized and all were very good. The chips and various dips were really awesome. They rivaled Mexican restaurants!
Food: 9.6/10 - the selection is just right; not too little, not overwhelming like cheesecake factory. The menu items aren't "standard offerings" you see in every diner/american restaurant. These take it up a notch and offer you inspired dishes with some flaire. Offering something for everyone, Bourbon's knocks every item out of the park, every time. Known for their burgers, you still can't go wrong ordering their chicken dishes or salads. Do. Not. Skip. The. Fries. I can't make this more clear - order the fries. They're great. However, you really can't order a bad item here.
Dessert: delicious options that don't miss. Something for everyone, though I'm not one to normally order dessert at a restaurant.
Reservations: not required, but recommended. This place can book up on popular nights.
Cleanliness: 10/10 - floors, tables, plates, silverware, and employees are all neat and clean.
Service: 7/10 - not super attentive, but friendly, to the point and we didn't have to wait or hunt down our server. An above average experience but...
Our group of 6 people dined here for the first time. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, but looks are deceiving! The restaurant is a lot larger than it appears from the outside. It is decorated well and has a nice dining space for larger groups away from the bar area. Our server was well informed about bourbon and very likable. We told him we were trying to get to a show at the Sorg, and he made sure we were served in a timely manner without feeling rushed. We all ordered various craft cocktails and everyone loved their drinks. I am not a big bourbon person, so I ordered the Frutini made with Buffalo Trace Wheatley Vodka. It was excellent. The bourbon lovers in the group also raved about their cocktails. The food was delicious. I ordered the truffle and Gouda burger with sweet potato waffle fries. Most likely one of the best burger and fries I have ever had. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. My daughters ordered the cauliflower wings and both said they were best they ever had. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We often attend performances at The Sorg. This restaurant is about a mile down the road. I will be coming here when we are...
Read moreMy family and I were out in Middletown for a soccer tournament. We needed a quick and early lunch and found Bourbon's Kitchen nearby the fields. We were seated right away and ordered a couple of beers from the decent beer list. They also have over 130 whiskeys and a long cocktail list.
For lunch, I had the Grippo's sandwich with hand-breaded chicken. This was topped with muenster cheese, fancy sauce, creamy coleslaw, crushed Grippo's chips, and smoked bacon ($15.50). Sweet potato waffle fries are a $4 addition but are well worth it. This sandwich is typically served as a steak burger, but chicken can be subbed or an impossible burger. This was delicious and the spicy from the Grippo's chips really stood out.
My wife had the Baja fish tacos with crispy haddock, fire-roasted black beans, and corn, house-pickled purple cabbage, salsa verde, ancho chile crema, and cilantro ($14). She seemed really happy with her choice, though the fries were an interesting side choice.
Our kids enjoyed the cheeseburgers and fries from the kids' menu ($7.99). Overall this was a really good lunch and we will be back if ever in...
