Mizu Japanese Steak House — Restaurant in Middletown

I've been to this restaurant a few times before and always enjoyed my meal. Food and service were top notch. This last time I can't say the same. We arrived at the restaurant well before closing time but the place was completely empty. We were promptly shown to a table and greeted by our server. It took quite a while to get our drinks and we were ready to order when they were delivered. My dining companion ordered sushi and I ordered the hibachi chicken. I've ordered that before. We also ordered a couple of appetizers. Everything pretty much came at the same time which was fine for the gentleman I was dining with as his main course was cold but I wasn't thrilled. I quickly ate the appetizer and then got to my entree. The chicken was cold, dry and tasteless. Unfortunate. I generally don't like sending food back so I just picked at my food and took home the leftovers to see if I could resuscitate them. I couldn't. What really bothered me was that our server seemed to completely forget about us. Could not get another drink, and processing payment took way too long. I worked in restaurants for many years so I get it that you want to clean up and get out but I never made my guest suffer because of it. Everyone should get the same food and service no matter when they arrive. If you don't want to take care of your late tables then close early. I'll probably give them another shot as my friend does like the sushi there. I'm hoping the management reads this review and corrects...

1 star is not low enough. i have been twice and the first time was nothing special and so i went back and it was a much worse experience. the service was horrendous. they were extremely rude and made us wait for way to long even though the place was COMPLETELY empty. there were obviously people available to help us but they were sitting arojnd in their phones and sleeping. multiple employees were coughing frequently and still served our food. the food was undercooked and the hibachi people were quiet and did not put on a good show. after my second time, i woke up in the middle of the night, queasy also, they add on an 18% tip and do not tell you so look at your bill closely. the first time i went, i didn't realize and so i double tipped, but the second time, i looked at it and noticed that they had already added 18% which i have never heard of adding that for 2 people. when i did not tip any extra the second they looked were rude and brought the check back and asked if we forgot anything(hinting at the check). this place is disgusting and they should be shut down. I guarantee if Mizu hibachi was inspected by the health department it would come nowhere...

Came here with my family for my daughter's graduation it was 9pm exactly right after graduation. restaurant was empty we were the only ones there. The waitress was straight out rude from the beginning. Not only that they were spraying bleach while we were eating and the chef was doing his thing on the hibachi. The chef was great. We tipped him 10 dollars we finished our meal and the waitress gave us our bill and was literally hovering over us we gave her the cash etc. And pulls the receipt out of my daughter's hand and looks at it and demands a better tip we looked at her and said we gave chef 10 dollars and gave you 20 that was sufficient. She said no next time you give to me then we split, so ok go get the tip from chef split that and give me my 20 back there's your tip since you want to complain about your bigger tip she threw a fit and walked away never ever coming back no wonder it's going down hill. You guys are straight out...
