If you've never been pregnant, you will not understand. I lost 15 lbs my first trimester and I can finally eat again, almost normally, but my cravings are very specific. I don't expect the people at La Strada to know this, but my request was simple and their response was "I'm not going to do that". I simply asked for them to chop up more celery into my tuna fish.
I also ordered a salad from the salad bar and saw hard boiled eggs and requested one of those as well. The woman then takes my salad to mix in the dressing. What I did not realize was that she was chopping up my egg into my salad. Now, I did not know that was common practice, so when she goes to ring me up and I see the egg in my salad, I told her I did not want it chopped as I was not planning to eat the yolk. I explained that I'm pregnant and the flavor of the yolk will make me sick. She has the "manager" come over, who very rudely states, "that is just how we do it", clearly not willing to remake the salad.
I guess I watch too many of those shows, like Top Chef and Best New Restaurant, where the customer is always right, or where the restaurant should always try to please their guests, even if the request is a bit arbitrary (which I don't feel mine were). I guess my $17 lunch does not justify choosiness, nor does being pregnant for that reason.
My last line of defense is that my colleagues both order lunch from La Strada almost every day. We spend hundreds of dollars a month there. They may have just lost our business forever. I'm glad to know they are...
Read moreI've been fortunate enough to be eating from Grosso's (in some shape or form) most of my life and will die a happy man if I can eat it til then. Personally I like their #10 without the proscuiotto (which is no doubt slamming proscuitto). So that's fresh mozz (& I mean soft fresh amzing mozz), arugula, sun dried tomatoes. Here's the cherry ontop: preco praco on the sandwich too (free). Preeko prako is their in-house combination olive oil + herbs&spices for sandwiches. If you're thinking bout trying Grosso's La Strada, quit being a mamaluke and go eat there right away. You'll thank me. PS- their sandwiches are just the tip of...
Read moreIf you are in need of a caterer, you absolutely have to try Grossos! The food is fresh and tasty and there's plenty of options. Mable who handled my catering order was so kind and thorough, ensuring that everything would look and taste good for my luncheon. And as promised, the delivery was on time and everything was delicious. Call in advance with your catering order (maybe a week in advance if you need delivery?) because they're super popular and appropriately busy. You won't be disappointed.
My recommendations: Sandwich platters,...
