🍽️ Veedu Indian Restaurant, Midland, MI: 👍👍👍👍👍
Experience Authentic Indian Cuisine at Veedu Indian Restaurant in Midland, where a group-friendly atmosphere and flavorful dishes create a memorable dining experience.
FOOD QUALITY👍: We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including Veedu Roast Goat, Chicken Lollipop, Tandoori Platter, Veedu Special Biryani, Kothu Paratha, and Street Style Fried Rice. Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, with the Veedu Special Biryani standing out as a must-try. The Chicken Lollipop had just the right amount of spice, while the Tandoori Platter delivered a smoky and satisfying taste. The menu offers a good mix of classic and street-style Indian dishes, making it ideal for a diverse group.
SERVICE & HOSPITALITY👍: The staff, led by our server Viki D, was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. We were given a special room for our group of eight, providing a more private and comfortable dining experience. The owner also took the time to visit our table and share insights about the menu, adding a personal touch to our visit.
AMBIENCE & SETTING👍: Veedu offers a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, perfect for family gatherings or group dinners. The special room added a touch of exclusivity, making our group feel valued. The decor combines modern elements with traditional Indian touches, enhancing the overall dining experience.
VALUE for MONEY👍: Veedu offers good value for money, especially considering the portion sizes and quality of the dishes. With a variety of options like the Veedu Old Fashion, Veedu Mule, Two Hearted Can, and Taj Mahal Bottle, the drink menu complements the meal well. The pricing is fair given the authentic flavors and attentive service.

Read moreHad high hopes for this new establishment since the other two alternatives quality seemed to decline. (Covid related?) Very impressive interior design and decor.
If your an all around average person unfamiliar with Indian cuisine. It has decent dishes. The Samosas were excellent!
Unfortunately other entrées were mediocre. A stir fry noodle dish was very dry.
The main attraction Biryani was lacking in many areas. No mint present, unable to detect any cardamom, saffron or the all important cilantro and anise amongst other important elements. The largest disappointment was zero fried onions included at all. Only a small slice of raw red onion placed on top.
The dish was also very dry and is almost an insult to what Biryani is supposed to be. There are various ways this dish can be prepared in different regions. This however seemed as if it was made with a biryani boxed seasoning kit. The flavour was ok but will not order this beloved dish from here.
The prices are slightly more than the competitors so you would expect at least a dipping sauce included with your order of Naan. Nope just dry bread. And only a miniscule amount of sauce served with anything.
Service was lacking a bit, servers passing by to pick up plates and remove sauces that were very much needed. Out of dining for an hour we were approached only one time for a refill on water. Management seemed very uptight.
This place has great potential and with just a few improvements it could become #1.
Maybe a little bit more time for them to become more settled as they are...
Read moreI went to this restaurant both for the fact that there aren’t many proper Indian restaurants in the Mid-Michigan area and also because a friend was playing music. We went with a larger group and we were seated on the outdoor patio which is where the live music was as well.
We started off with some appetizers, including:
cauliflower bites paneer tikka chicken bites garlic Naan & cheese Naan (new to me but highly recommended)
For entree, I wrestled between the chilean sea bass the lamb tikka masala. I decided to stay traditional and went with lamb. It was excellent! Another in our group also had the goat and I tried that and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and tender it was.
The presentation was top notch and they even decorated many of the entrees with interlaced hearts using sauce (see the pictures for examples).
For dessert, we had:
vanilla dome & jamun mango kulfi mousse
I want to give a special shout out to Selvan, who I believe is one of the owners. He was very kind to our whole group. Also, our server was very attentive and professional - excellent care.
Special shout to the live music by Squerl & Lucho - they play rock songs in a yacht rock / jazz style that makes for wonderful accompaniment for dining. We very much enjoyed the music.
I am looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. My friend Earl was correct in that this restaurant is the best Indian food I’ve had in Michigan...
