Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. My friends arrived ahead of the reservation, I was running about 10 minutes behind, and they refused to seat my friends until I arrived. Once there, we were seated and still had to wait about 15 minutes before our orders were taken. Once orders were taken, we then had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes for the stove to warm up. While waiting, I noticed other groups that came in and were seated without their full parties. I also noticed the stove top had some leftover food on it, which I removed for fear it would end up in our fresh food. It did appear they had cleaned it but simply missed a spot, perhaps rushing. I saw the owner/manager walking thru spectating, but he didn't come over and speak or greet us. Waitress brought out drinks and salad while we waited. The salads had the ginger dressing already on them, which I didn't particularly care for, nor did anyone else in my party. The ginger dressing was lumpy and had a strange texture. The chefs all came out about the same time for each table as if intentional. Our chef was not as lively as I expected, but he did do the typical onion fire and tossed a few pieces of chopped egg into a few of my friends mouths. When it came time to place the food on our plates, he missed the plate quite a few times, and food was lying on the counter/table, which made for a messy dining experience. I would've appreciated it if he would have grabbed those pieces to dispose of when he left bc it waa not like we were going to pick them up and eat them. Undeniably, the food he prepared was very delicious and plenty! No complaints there.. We all got to go boxes to finish our food later. Overall, it was the typical Japanese steakhouse experience that you would expect, I spent about $25 for my meal and a drink.

We really like the food and service. Large portions (always plenty to take home), chef's are funny and nice, service is usually pretty fast and friendly. Prices on par with other restaurants of this type. The decor seems to have been updated (I had previously said it seemed a bit dated). So we've been a few more times, and I wanted to update my review. For one, it was pouring rain one time, and the owner (I believe) walked us out to the car with his umbrella so we didn't get soaked. That's excellent service. Twice now, our chef has been Maui, and we love him. He's funny, and excellent at what he does. There's another chef we love, but I can't ever remember his name. I wish it would let me upload a short video of Maui at work. In the last year or so, we noticed they ofter a birthday special. For $5, bday person gets a slice of cheesecake, a picture, and they sing to them. We did the birthday package last year, and the picture was great. This year is was a bit washed out (as you can see in the attached image). Last year's picture wasn't (attached image). This year, they let us choose were we wanted the pic taken, and my youngest son wanted it at the waterfall area. Not a huge deal, but I wish we had asked them to take a pic with one of our phones this time. Still had a great time, and we will return.

This was my second time at this establishment, and I must say that I was appalled. Need I say that this was my second time because I truly enjoyed my first. Please do not go in as a single person and ask for a Hibachi order. First, I was sitting with a family that was not ordering from the grill and after 20 minutes, the servers finally noticed and asked the manager (I guess) to tell me to switch tables (note: the staff seats each party. Secondly, the party they placed at the table with me (9)...was kind of hesitant to sit because I was just moved and had a weird look on my face. Then, I waited 30 more minutes for someone to finally come over and cook our food. There were parties that came in after me, being cooked for or on their way out of the restaurant before my food was cooked. I spoke to the manager about my wait time being over an hour, and he asked me what I was drinking and brought back a Pepsi. The best experience was the waiter trying to make amends. I truly did appreciate his actions and empathy. He has managerial qualities. Thank you, young man!! I just tried to have a nice birthday outing....but I did get a lesson on patience. Party of 1....please think about it 🤔

Where to start- First off, one star is entirely too high of a rating considering the "dining experience" I just sat through. We were meeting at 3pm 1-31-16 for a birthday party for my 13 year old cousin at the location in Midlothian. The only positive of the evening, we didn't have to wait for a table, but that's the end of our not needing to wait. Half of our drink orders were taken. The waitress returned approximately 10 minutes later with most of the non alcoholic beverages. She still neglected to take the remaining orders. We had the back room reserved and it was about 30 of us. Of the drinks that didn't make it back to our table, a Shirley temple for the bday boy. After another 30 minutes went by with not so much as a glance into our back room, I went and fetched the manager. I asked him if he could get our entire party drinks as it had now been 45 minutes. He personally returned to take the drink orders. My 13 year old cousin ordered his Shirley temple and the manager proceeded to ask him, "alcohol or virgin", to which I blurted "He's 13!!!" And the manager responded, "I couldn't tell because he's so big." Yes, I indeed had to remind myself he wasn't my child because that man would have had an extremely bad night. The waitress returned with some drinks, but still not the Blue Hawaiian my mother had ordered now over an hour ago. When I asked her about the drink, she said, "Oh yeah, the bartender ran out of Malibu"....was anyone going to come back and tell us that? Obviously not. She brought one single bowl of soup to one man in our party after taking orders. Then, 10 more minutes decided to bring trays with all but one tables worth of soup. One chef came to start cooking for a table and we hadn't even been served salads. Two full hours after we were seated, the other two chefs came to our table to review orders. One was incorrect and one was completely missed, that was just from our 8 top. I'm positive there were other order issues at other tables. My brother ordered the shrimp and chicken combo and was shorted shrimp. The chef was like, "My bad brother, I'll get you your shrimp from the back". Guess what never happened? Not one adult at my 8 top received an offer for a refill and I didn't even get a beverage until half way through the meal. After everyone was done and sitting around for another 45 minutes waiting for checks, I had enough and went to find someone to get our checks. There were a total of 4 other occupied tables in the entire restaurant at this time and only 2 of them had chefs cooking. I could not find one waitress, the manager or a chef that wasn't cooking so I walked to the bar for help. There wasn't one single person in the bar and the man was watching TV when I walked up. I asked him if he could help me find someone to get our checks, to which he responded, "find a waitress that's not my job sorry"....REALLY?! Yes I guess so! So I went to the kitchen, to find everyone standing around doing, surprise- NOTHING! The waitress was like, "We're trying to separate your checks it's a lot of work and we're really busy." I politely asked, "With 4 tables?" To which she said, "Plus your 3." I also reminded them that I'd not be paying for a combo meal when my brother only received 4 shrimp. Word to the wise, if there are more than 4 tables should you decide to wager on wasting $20+ per meal, you're not getting service. Consider yourselves warned. My favorite part, as we were leaving this guy came from the back with a plate of 2 shrimp...yes clearly I'd like to enjoy my meal as I'm exiting... the absolute worst service I've ever...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! We were so excited to come and looked forward to it all week. I made reservation for 3 and even called to confirm it as this was my boyfriend's birthday. Once we got there we were told they were understaffed by the hostess and we would have to wait for 10 minutes. After 25 minutes we were finally sat. Our server came and took our drink order and by the time she brought our drinks they were watered down. My friend ordered sushi which was good...once the server came back to the table after being gone for a long time again; was asked where the sushi was and she said it would be done soon. We had just seen the sushi cook out in the dining room so we knew it was done. She came back with the sushi but the other couple at the table aldo needed some. Aince the waitress disappeared again they didnt recieve theirs for another 20 minutes. The cook was good and entertaining; and the food was great. However people that came in afyer us with no reservations recieved there salads befor us and there cook came before ours. That is sp ridiculous. Knowing tbat we had waited so long for a table we shpuld have had a waitress that cared to be present. As a server myself i would never give a guest in my restaurant such absent service. Had i known her name i would mention it now but she never told us it. Once i complained about her being gone she gave us better service, yet at the beginning of our service we never once saw her with another table...where was she? At the end pf our service we watched her with another table A LOT!!! Was our money not good enough?!?!? I had planned to give her a $20 tip before i even showed up..and at the end of my meal i decided to give her half of that. Yet qhen i went to meet her up front (because she had to run my card up front which is fine) so i could aign for my card and leave she proceeded to have a crummy attitude with me. Needless to say she got even less of a tip. So now im sitting her writting a novel as to why ypu shouldnt go to this location. If you want a special occassion celebrated i suggest trying the other location. Manager seemed scattered brained and everyone was running around woth no service being given. So so disappointing. Dont waste your money cause with their prices you are looking for an experience and i can promise we didn't recieve a positive one. I came on 5/25 at 6:30...well 7 and didnt leave till 8:20. So so disappointing. Only gave it 2 stars because the food was good. As someone who makes a living off tips it takes a lot to gove a bad tip amd i make my living off creating memorable experiences and I always do my beat to do that or communicate as to why it hasnt been my reasons for not providing it to my guest....

Kabuto Japanese House Of Steaks & Sushi was a delightful experience. This is especially true when you consider the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic. The restaurant seemed to have done a great job of managing safety while ensuring a pleasant experience for their customers.

They did require masks to be worn to enter the restaurant and to be worn as we were seated or moving about the restaurant. I nor anyone in my group had any issues with this. While we were seated, eating and drinking, we were allowed to have our masks off. Our servers and chef were fully masked the entire time that they were in our presence. Ok, enough about that.

We visited on a Friday evening and they were busy. Our group of 6 was seated with another group of 6 people, but this is fairly customary of a Japanese Steak House. It did take us a while to receive our beverages, but eventually the staff found their groove and we were well taken care of from then on. It appeared that all of the full tables within the restaurant had similar experiences. I pay attention to that type of stuff.

The chef was amazing. He wasn't too wild or crazy and he read the table well. We had infants and toddlers with us so he was sure to amaze, but not to frighten. He was very organized and professional. He wowed us with some tricks such as firing off 6 pieces of egg to 6 volunteers for the pieces to be caught in our mouths. All 6 hit their mark which was very cool and showcased his talent. All along, he was very careful to keep our orders straight and all 12 of us received exactly what we ordered.

The food was excellent. Each item was cooked perfectly to order. Our table was silent as we ate, signaling that we were all very satisfied. As the chef cleaned his cook top, he was sure to check in with us to make sure that our satisfaction was indeed upheld. He kept our sauce ramicants full and the wait staff kept our drinks full. A cross the board, the table had filet, chicken, shrimp, salmon and steak as our proteins. We all agreed that they had been perfectly prepared. The rice and vegetables were also cooked to perfection. The seasonings and sauces that were used had been carefully measured and added in a manner that was just right. The soup and salad that were offered also seemed to be fresh and well prepared.

To sum up the experience, I can tell you that my family and I cannot wait for our next visit. We have already discussed making that happen sooner rather than later. Should you find yourself in the mood, I would recommend that you too take the opportunity to have an excellent meal at Kabuto Japanese House Of...
