Party of two_BAD EXPERIENCE!!!pš š š”š”š”š”. We arrived upon the restaurant opening and we're told that we could enter and then we're told that they weren't open as we went to be seated. We explained that the woman who appeared to be the owner outside The Establishment told us that we were able to go in and eat. The behavior was unprofessional by the hostess and wait staff who didn't have a grasp or seem to be trained about what restaurant service is. We were told upon sitting down that 20% (excessive gratuity for two people) would automatically be added to our bill and there were no menues, we had to use internet service in order to view the menu and this is supposed to be a upscale dining establishment. Our first thoughts were is to get up and leave but I wanted to have a nice lunch with my husband in a nice atmisphere. I decided to just to stay. We ordered the Five spice calamari, it came out on a plate with ten tiny cuts of calamari and small cut of vegetables salad scattered across the plate. It was cold overcooked and had no five soice. We express our concerns to the horses/manager who wanted to tell us it was a"posh dish" . We explain to her that both of us are chefs and know what to expect from food in a restaurant and that that was unacceptable. The miso soup can only be described as bathwater. The seaweed salad that we ordered came in a small martini glass and there was just a small tablespoon of seaweed salad on top underneath was a bed of beets that were shredded up in spirals. The rolls that we ordered were spider roll, spicy tuna roll, and whitefin tuna roll which were half the size of what sushi normally would be. It's understandable that in the Covid crisis that restaurants need to make adjustments but you can't take shortcuts on food by charging more and serving less and expect people to pay for it and be okay with it especially in a more upscale dining establishment. We were told that our order would have the calamari removed but upon review of the receipt when I came home we were charged for two orders of calamari when we ordered one one order was removed. (I take responsibility for not really viewing the receipt clearly but I was upset) Additionally we were charge 30% on tip and made the waitress aware that we were overcharged and she removed this and allowed me to write the tip in. Needless to say we will not be visiting this establishment again. They're very clearly cheating and being dishonest with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish I could comment without giving a single star. Iāve frequented this restaurant in the past, but last night was extremely disturbing! I chose this restaurant to celebrate my sisterās birthday with our family and friends, expecting the same service I received in the past, but last night was a nightmare! For starters, our waitress was incompetent and had to be asked several times for items we ordered. She didnāt know the menu, and did not express the restaurantās policies to us until we received the check with items to pay for that we did not eat. We waited over an hour for our food, and mind you, we all remained patient and kind throughout all of this. It wasnāt until the manager came out being extremely disrespectful that things took a turn for the worse. I wish I could remember the name of the horrible manager who threw around racial slurs, but the waitressās name is Brooklyn. Please stay away from this restaurant. There are plenty of other Thai restaurants in the area with better food and service. The experience was complete chaos that couldāve been avoided, because they ended up doing what we asked from the beginning⦠which was to remove the items from the check that were not eaten. After removing the items āto make all of this go awayā as stated by the owner, we were told that we could no longer eat at the restaurant, as if we would EVER willingly go back, anyway. Telling us that weāre not welcomed in that racist and disgusting establishment is far from the insult they thought it would be. Also, if you do choose to spend your money at this horrible establishment, please make sure you order food that you know will taste good. If you donāt like the way something tastes, and you take it back without eating the meal, you will still be charged. I am a foodie who has lived in VA for 13 years. Iāve dined at many restaurants here in VA and in other cities/states, and I have NEVER been charged for food I didnāt eat. Whether it has been a quick bite or fine dining. Again, if you desire a pleasant dining experience, you will not get that at Made in Asia, especially if itās a large group of African Americans. The worst part of it all, my sisterās birthday dinner was ruined and she...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was a really big miss for Made In Asia Saturday night. We had a 6:15pm reservation for which we arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. After 15 minutes with no greeting at the table, I informed the host that no one had come yet. He said they were short staffed although we saw several servers about and the restaurant was not overly busy. He went to let someone know to take care of us. Maybe 10 more minutes later, a young girl finally showed up.
Since weād been there about 30minutes, we were ready with our full order of water, cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. And then we waited and waited and finally were given 1 glass of water for a party of 4. Then, about 10 more minutes later, a different server comes to the table with 2 of our entrees. We told her we didnāt think they were ours bc we hadnāt even received our appetizers or drinks yet. She returned to the kitchen with them. About 7-8min later, the appetizers came but still no drinks..no plates to share the food or anything either.
Finally, the drinks show up and then the entrees not long after. Our server wanted to take away the appetizers we were still working on to make room for the dinners. No. We crammed it all on the table.
The spring rolls were not good, but the crab Rangoon and gyoza was. I almost broke my tooth on a chicken bone (I hope thatās what it was) that was in the chicken breast for the chicken lettuce wraps. Then, I was afraid to eat any more of itā¦so took some of my husbandās drunken noodlesā¦which tasted like sugar to me. So, I did not eat that either.
This was such an epic restaurant fail in terms of service and food quality. Very disappointing. I gave 2 stars because the crab Rangoon and gyoza were good and one in our party enjoyed their dinner. 2 stars is generous for...
