I happenned to stumbled on to this place per my neighbor's suggestion, plus I didn't feel like prepping, cooking or cleaning. 1st. impression- I'm looking all raggedy/wearing basketball shorts, tee shirt and flip flops. (Sorry had to paint the mental image for ya). I was greeted by a beautiful smile from the hostess/waitress and smiles from the bartenders and other waitstaffs. The place was busy too. Win Win already!! I ordered Carnitas Del Ray and Shredded Beef Taquitos and mentioned that I was from Cali. 2nd impression- the place had a chill vibe and was very clean. Win Win!! 3rd. impression- As I was handed my food by the manager, he mentioned that he threw in a complimentary Chorizo Fries since I was from LA. Win Win Win!! 4th impression- FOOD.. I'm no food critic, but I know my Carnitas. Trust me when I say I know. Whom ever the cook/chef that made that Carnitas is for real. It was so freaking GOOOOOOOD!!!!! It was perfectly cooked/marinated. Probably the top 3 Carnitas I've ever eaten, and I've eaten Carnitas for over 40 yrs. from West Coast/East Coast/Mexico/etc. BTW... I'm a pretty decent cook/chef as well. Do yourself a favor and get the Carnitas. You'll taste a little orange in the pork and it was DELICIOUS!!! 5th impression- Will DEFINITELY be dining in next time. They will definitely be getting more money from me and the fam. This place is a Gem!!! Happy...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were looking to order from a new place for dinner yesterday and came across Casa Tezcal. I'm recently sober and saw they had a great mocktail menu! Because we ordered through DoorDash, adding a mocktail to the order was not an option. However, we called the restaurant and they said they'd be happy to include the mocktail for our DoorDash order and just asked for the name we plan on putting it under so they can be sure to include it. The gentleman who accommodated this for us was extremely kind and helpful. When the food arrived, I saw that they included not one, but TWO mocktails for me! One frozen, one on the rocks. To top it off, the food was OUTSTANDING. My baja fish tacos were scrumptious from beginning to end. The fish was cooked perfectly with a crispy coating and wasn't soggy at all from the chipotle sauce. Despite being delivered, the food was FRESH as if it had just come out of the kitchen. We will definitely be visiting this place in person very soon! Thanks for a great first experience, we can't wait to...
Read moreI did not realize this restaurant opened up a month ago next to Starbucks, but when I saw it Friday decided to come back for dinner. If you do not want to be on a wait list on Friday, you need to get there before 5:45pm. There is a small bar area that you can wait. The chips and guacamole that we ordered while waiting were delicious. Definitely freshly made. They order a limited variety of Mexican and American beers and several wine choices by the glass. 2 of our party ordered mixed drinks and said they were tasty. The reviews that have said that this restaurant is on the pricier side are correct, but I think they are trying to be more of an âupscaleâ with quality ingredients. I had the shrimp tacos and my husband got the pork tacos. They were pretty good. I feel that they could work on their recipe for rice and beans as they were rather bland. I will try this restaurant again because it is so close to where I live, but at this point did not think they are at the...
