We went here for dinner and it was my first time trying Plaza Azteca. I had a Groupon that had expired for the promo value but was still obviously good for the amount paid ($25). We had dinner and when it came time to pay I enclosed my groupon with the check and sent it off. The waitress then came back and told us manager said "we're not accepting this". First off, I couldn't believe the manager himself wouldn't come to the table personally and explain his case in a polite way instead of arrogantly telling the waitress to tell paying cusomters that "he is not accepting this". I was absolutely blown away, since I am a businessman myself and would never ever treat or speak to a customer this way.
I then calmly and politely asked the waitress to bring the manager to the table so I could understand why he was denying my Groupon which I paid $25 to use at this establishment. He came over and rudely started off by saying those aren't good here. I then stated that the actual paid value is still good for use on the bill, but he arrogantly assured me that I was in fact wrong and Plaza Azteca was no longer accepting them. He began to develop a tone and called me a "LIAR" for pleading my case regarding the fact that I had used other groupons at many other restaurants in the area this way!!!! I told him that due to his tone and the lack of customer service this would most likely be the absolute last time I would be dining here and instead of trying to make it better or being calm, he without a word, gets up and walks away. I literally couldn't believe he was getting a tone with me and worst yet, I have never had a manager of a restaurant call me "LIAR" for explaining my case. I guess I was also surprised that he was going to jeopardize a $25 coupon on over a 100 dollar bill for the fact that I was likely to never come back this place again.
This will be the LAST time I ever go to Plaza Azteca, especially this one. I will make sure I tell everyone I know and my friends/family this experience and will urge them to never ever try this restaurant.
MY ADVICE: GET RID OF THIS MANAGER OF THIS PLAZA AZTECA. I believe his name is David. He isn't helping your...
Read moreI will preface this review by stating I'm from the DMV area where there is a heavily diverse population of Hispanics from all over. The food up there doesn't miss!
Was in town visiting family and we swung by this place for a late night bite on a Sat night. The place was pretty busy but there wasn't a wait. There were 2 very large parties of around 9-12 each so it's a good spot for large groups. We ordered and received our food and drinks quickly. I will say I didn't like the chips and salsa and whatever that white sauce is...never had that in my life. Not to mention they serve the salsa ice cold...was literally a shock when I went to taste it. I ordered chorizo tacos. They were meh at best. A bit dry and not much meat at all. One of the others in my party ordered shrimp tacos. They enjoyed their dish. They were filled to the brim and falling out of the tortilla with the amount of food. I know shrimp costs more than chorizo so I was surprised at how different our portions were. The last person in the party ordered elote and they weren't a fan either. We all ordered grande margaritas and we were satisfied with those. Service was great food was just really lacking to me personally. One of the people in my party suggested it and frequently eats here...tomato tomatillo...so take my review with a...
Read more7/24/2017 Been a long time customer for many years, been a few weeks since my last visit but seems they got a new terrible cook. Both meals were poorly executed. Fish was bad, small half size cut and cooked badly. My boritto's chicken was covered in spicy seasoning which drowned out the flavor of everything. I like hot, this was like they used chili powder on the chicken. Even the beans had the same chili powder in it. Again I like hot food, this was not hot just gritty low burn that made the food have no flavor. Really bad. Think they need to stop buying TV'S and focus on the food.
Update: made several follow up attempts with them, they are better, not as good as they used to be. They went from 5 stars to 1, and seem to be about a 2-3 star depending on what you order. They were so good I went there every week. I go once every few months hoping they will get better. Been trying other places and have some good alternatives. They were the best Mexican food I had ever eaten in my life(the Chief they had was fenominal, dude you rocked whoever you were). Sad to see it fall so far. :-/
Edit: seen some improvement. Moved...
