I found this place years ago at their old location, 700 E 9400 S. I had just discovered birria on a business trip. When I got home, I wanted to find a place that served it locally. I ended up here. It was soooo good. Honestly it's the only thing I've ever ordered. I have not found another place in town that makes it as good. They don't claim it as a specialty, but they should! I have brought friends here who have order other items and been equally pleased. I was so sad when I drove by their old location saw they were gone. Not long after I noticed them here at the new location. Today I finally stopped in. Started with the typical chips and salsa that all Mexican places have. I like their salsa because I'm a wimp and it's not too spicy. The quesabirrias are just as good. Slightly different presentation. Maybe that was just me ordering it differently. The menu is larger than it used to be. The new location is huge compared to the "closet" sized space they used to have. The most exciting thing is they finally have fountain soda. The old place was so small they literally did not have room for a soda machine. Now they even have room for a second kitchen where Mediterranean food is prepared. I didn't know that until lunch today. Maybe I'll try something off that part of the menu next time. I can't recommend this place enough. If you want a good reasonably priced meal, go...
Read moreTried this place for the first time today after driving past it a few times, and I’m so glad we finally stopped in! From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent, our server was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant itself is spotless, spacious, and well air-conditioned, with charming décor and lots of natural light. It’s such a warm and welcoming environment. Loved the variety of foods on the menu, so much to try!
We ordered the tacos/quesabirrias/enchiladas along with horchata and everything exceeded expectations. The flavors were absolutely phenomenal! We sampled three different meats, and each one was juicy, smoky, and packed with flavor. The horchata wasrefreshing, and tasted homemade one of the best I’ve had. The beans also tasted homemade.
What really impressed me was the chef personally coming out to check on our table, making sure we enjoyed our food. The quesabirrias were also larger than I’ve had at other restaurants (a huge plus!) and the consomé was just right, not too greasy, perfectly balanced, and full of rich flavor. You could tell every dish was made with genuine care and love.
I’ve already told several of my friends about this hidden gem, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!! 10/10! A great...
Read moreCome support this new business. We are just a couple of minutes away on foot and have been waiting for them to open up. We came in for an early dinner and were happy with the quality of the Mexican dishes we tried and were happy to see that they serve their dishes with white cheese. We typically avoid Mexican establishments that dump yellow cheese on their dishes.
Tortilla chips were nice and thick, probably great for nachos, salsa is the thin puréed type but had good flavor.
The flour tortillas served with the barbacoa plate were of excellent quality, wow. A good indicator that the kitchen cares is serving good rice and beans, both were the case here, cooked well and seasoned.
First time trying Sopes and we loved them. Carnitas were very good. Enchilada red ranchero sauce was on the sweet side, reminded me of a red sauce and mole mix. I liked it but my wife prefers savory and less sweet (not a fan of mole).
Front house staff were fresh? Maybe getting used to the job as some basic soft skills were lacking, although she had a good attitude.
Restaurant was clean, plenty of space. We look forward to trying out other dishes and...
