I haven’t stayed. I booked a room for tonight yesterday via phone. I clarified that there would be a plus 1. I booked for 1 week (7 days in layman’s terms). They took my information by phone, you know, address, email, phone number, credit card; pretty standard stuff. Let me start by saying I’ve stayed in motels/hotels from New Jersey to California over the course of over 30 years (this background will make sense in a minute), so I know a little something about lodgings. Anyway… I called customer care and told them I was making the 13 hour trek (3 & 1/4 states) the day of my reservation (yesterday now, barely) and that I would be arriving around 9:30 pm, They told me to contact the motel directly, after 11:00. Okay. I called them directly. The man at the front desk told me they close at 7:00 pm. I told him I have a plus 1, maybe my son could check in for us. He said “We weren’t aware’l He told me they need payment. I told him “You have my credit card on file, what’s the issue?” He told me they need my card in person to swipe. I told him “Maybe my son could pay the first night and I could pay balance in the morning?” You know, when I’m not still in the Pacific NW. He said “we only have weekly.” I said “Charge my card, you already have it, it’s not my son’s expense, it’s mine and he doesn’t have the money.” He said “We can’t without the card present to swipe.” Okay, I asked him “What if we move the reservation 1 day.” Pretty straight forward, 1 week, 7 days. He said “yes.” (See, I’m still willing to work with them at this point, keep reading 😉). He said “Okay.” I asked him “will I be penalized?” He said “No. I said “okay. I asked “same price?” He said “ after I modify it, I can’t see.” The price sounded about right. Hours later…. In another motel… I have a chance to check my email (you know, because I’m not driving, trying to avoid a fiery dear). This is where it gets interesting… He didn’t sign for 7 days, he signed for 7 weeks!!! For 1 week it’s an additional $30 ( probably for my inconvenience, you know, having to figure out lodging during my 13 hour drive that I thought was already set.) the email has a button to change or cancel reservations. I followed the link. Response?… “reservation cannot be modified because of policy.” I called customer care. Closed. I called front desk. No answer (also closed). I’ve stayed in hundreds of motels over the years, this is the first time ever coming across a motel that can’t do check in after 7:00 pm. Ever!!! Needless to say I'm I’m not giving them my business!!! This level of incompetence and lack of customer service is Appalling. I haven’t stayed, so I didn’t say 1 star, but in every other area thus far I would say 1 star. I’m going to call them tomorrow to cancel, I’d be very surprised if they didn’t charge me for not canceling with 24 hours notice.( I’ll keep y’all apprised of the outcome.) I’m not moving to Utah!!! I was willing to extend my trip by 1 day, find another motel (en route mind you) pay the extra $30 bucks (to make up for my inconvenience (I guess), but 7 weeks??? C’mon!!! I bey they’ll be able To accept my card without it present for canceling. What do you think? Kinda hope they do, so I can tell you fine folks and you can avoid this hassle. And before the owner replies with “We constantly strive… and we’re sorry… we hope you reconsider…” maybe read this review all the way through and try to actually do something about it, instead of just replying. Anyway, I’ll let you know. Thanks for reading. I’m staying elsewhere for my 1 week! Hope this was helpful. It wouldn’t let me post without giving it a rating. I’m saying 1 star. This kinda nightmare isn’t conducive of a fun, happy,...
Read moreI stayed several months at 151 W. 7200 S. Midvale, Utah. Due to a new job opportunity for my husband, we were planning on getting an apartment sooner but life events would not allow us. This has been the worst experience in my life not only was I treated with no respect, management and staff treat us like if we were living there for free, when we were always paying on time no causing a problem or disturbance yet on 01/19/2018 we got kicked out just because my kids had asked Greg ( manager) to activate their key since they were waiting for my uncle to come and picked them up after school, I had started a new job at Comcast and my aunt who takes care of my kids was running late and being the first week of my new employment I couldn't be late. I had made arrangements with my aunt to pick them up and she did. When my husband called to get assistance because we couldn't go pay at 11:00 A.M due to our work hours. He called Greg and asked him if we could do a payment over the phone as that he replied NO didn't even mentioned that we could pay online but since I had worked in Hotels and Call centers I know there is an option of self payments online which was giving me problems since my last name did not matched my account. I asked my husband to ask Greg why we weren't unable to make that payment online and he straight refuse to assist us. He replied that there was nothing he could do. My husband took some time from work to go make that payment and not get charged a late fee. When my husband arrived at the front desk the manager told him that our kids could not stay alone and that we needed to leave. I feel like that was not his problem when I had already made arrangements with my aunt and it didn't even took her 10 minutes to get them besides that Greg knew that there were going to be days that they had to be alone in their room for at least 15 minutes until my husband would get home and he said it was fine. The time I stayed here I felt treated like a homeless, I understand this area is not a good area since I did see a lot of drug activity specially from staff at night there is always people not guest, walking in there knocking on the lady that helps after hours and this is all night. Also there are a lot of homeless hanging out. Once I came from work and saw a homeless sleeping in the hallway. And yet I get kicked out for something so small that doesn't hurt the hotel? Not only did he kicked us out but made us look bad and we can't rent in any other locations. All this was because I complain about housekeeping before. I have worked for big companies, I have a clean background, I have management experience and overall this is the worst experience of my life. I have left and will continue to leave bad reviews until I get a solution. The staff is making your company lose money and loyal guest. Act now! Check your Google reviews if you...
Read moreWe just stayed here last week. While it wasn't horrible, it certainly wasn't great.
First of all, our room was clean contrary to the other reviews on here. The linens were clean, the floors were clean, the stove and refrigerator were clean, no issues there. There was no odor of stale smoke in our room thankfully. That said, the hallway smelled of smoke quite a few times, and we did see people smoking in their room with the window open a couple of times from the parking lot. One time we walked in and the downstairs hallway was permeated with the smell of marijuana smoke. Later that day we saw a guy walk out of the hotel with a pair of hemostats (locking pliers) with a joint still in them, fully in the open, get into his pickup and leave. That was the only "illicit" activity we witnessed or even saw evidence of during the week we stayed.
The beds were the most uncomfortable I think I've ever slept on, and my wife and I used a futon mattress on the ground for a few weeks when moving at one point. The pillows are plastic pieces of garbage. Do yourself a big favor and go buy a couple of $2.88 pillows from the Walmart down the road. The cheap pillows make the beds manageable. They don't change any linens or towels while you stay, so you may want to buy some cheap towels as well.
There is a laundromat room in the hotel, so you can wash your clothing and towels there. It was clean and well maintained, but they are not large capacity machines. We ended up using 2-3 loads for just a couple days worth of laundry for my family. At $1.75 per load it added up quick. The machines use a smart card rather than directly using money on the individual machines. The machine only accepts $5 bills, so you're going to have a card with some amount of money left on it when you check out unless you need to run 20 loads of laundry. The likelihood of needing to stay a whole week in Salt Lake/Midvale again in the near future is pretty slim, so the money left on the card is most likely wasted at this point. You may want to look for close by laundromats, I'm sure the is a more economical choice if you need to do more than a few loads.
When it came time to check out and move on to our next destination Saturday morning, we found the front desk was not open until 11, with the checkout deadline at noon. We tried to call the after hours number, only to get an answering machine that instructed us to call back after 11. We ended up leaving our keys on the table in our room, and leaving them a message to call if they had any questions as we couldn't wait and still meet our schedule. We have not heard back from them after a few days, but will be closely tracking to make sure it happens.
If you plan for the caveats I mentioned I think the value is worth the inconveniences. Otherwise you'll want to find another hotel if you want more...
