Hig's Restaurant — Restaurant in Milan

First trip based off recommendations of buffet. Well , yes they have a Buffett and like most buffets your usual selections of mashed potatoes, green beans, fried chicken pork selections. The salad bar I truly enjoyed the thousand island dressing and was thankful they had wide selections on the salad bar because I found it difficult to choke down the food on the buffet. Chicken was dry and hard , even with waiting for fresh additions, white beans I had to spit out , and green beans okay but weird taste along with the mashed potatoes. Potato salad tasted like watered down mustard, and even the desserts were bland and not even sweet! How do you do that? And FIRST and FOREMOST, I don’t think the restaurant has seen ANY cleaning ! EVER! And like a previous post I read about this restaurant (tried to give benefit of doubt) makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like??? (I’m probably very glad I didn’t know!) The seats were all cracked or no covering and no seat support,,floors with carpet that I think I remember from the last time I was in the building 30+ years ago but with black greasy look. ALL The air vents COVERED in grease and dust (dirt), stained ceiling title, floors super greasy and slick, baseboards with tons of grease and caked on dried food and dirt, bottles on table dirty and the bathrooms decent but needs a lot of TLC. Not sure who owns this place or what your state restaurant grade is(should have checked) but unless you clean up this place it should...

I am lost for words 😒 1/19 after church. I could went to any other place to eat. But! I choose Higs. They have all my favorite being from Ohio. We don't have alot of Southern places to eat. This was the 1st restaurant my husband took me, when we got married and I move here. We had that chitlins on Tues. I've been here 15 yrs. and I was coming here for the buffet. BUT TODAY! I won't come back EVERY AGAIN! I usually get the same thing all the time. Especially turnip greens. Was not fond of them at first. But at Higs delicious, and they have Frank's hot sauce (northern brand) The greens I had today had a part of the stick in my greens. I spoke to my waitress about it and she went to get this lady. I guess she was part of management. She tells it is part of green beans stick. If it was cooking in greens won't it soften up a bit. She didn't care about how I felt. It's a stick it happen🤨 basically. I was ready to go then. I remove myself w/my husband. Paid the bill. Money is never an option! If its cost $30 or $100. Its the principle....

My family went on one of the worst days of our lives. We buried our mother today. Service was awful. There was a 20% gratuity added to our ticket even though our tables weren't prebussed and our drinks weren't refilled. All the food was bland and flavorless except the chocolate pie which had probably been previously frozen. The mashed potatoes and the catfish was cold. The spaghetti was bland. I complained but the gratuity was added anyway. I was completely unsatisfied with our experience. We most likely won't go back. I have photos of the unbussed tables but I can't post them.
