So yesterday I received a phone call from my daughter nearly in tears. She had been at the Bridge Street Bagel store where she is a regular customer within walking distance and she recommends them to all visiting her including my wife and I a few months ago and we went numerous times while visiting from Cincinnati.
She took her daughter in as she usually does as the adorable little 2 year old loves their pork roll. Sometime after ordering. the baby's binky was left on a counter. A big blonde employee was irate as was then, a dark haired woman, later to be revealed as the manager.
They repeatedly loudly hurled insults at my daughter yelling all kinds of personal attacks to humiliate her in front of the people in the store. Where they got all this personal information about her is a mystery but they were right she has had difficulties in life but all has been good since she had her little girl who she worships and adores. She is an exemplary mother and has been sober for 3 years.
Who, including the 2 attackers/employees have lives with nothing but perfection.? But here they were screaming and humiliating one of their regular customers and store advocates and doing it right in front of her dear little girl. The baby must have been scared. In what kind of Bizarro world does this happen?. Over reaction of epic proportions.
So after trying to return fire a little to these 2 soup nazis she goes out the door. What happens next? They actually FOLLOW her outside and continue the attack but this time repleat with vulgar swearing and actually threatening to "break her knee caps" (the manager!!) and then HIGH FIVING EACH OTHER!
I immediately tried to call them to find out just what tf was going on here but it was too late... they close at 2 pm and it was 2 01. So I called the Milford Police. They happen to be "in between Police Chiefs" and also they don't handle business in Milford?! "Call the State Police". Actually the Milford Police Chief left a message that was of a nice tone today. I decided likely the State Police have more important business than this to attend to.
So I phone the Bagel store again early the next morning (today) on my cell to not be recognized by surname to hope I can get an audience with the owner/mother of the manager (not there yesterday) hoping some apologetic tone will be offered given this is HER business. What I got immediately from her was a lot of screaming and denying of any fault at all of them or that most of it didn't actually even happen. Who would fabricate a story like this?.
You look at the reviews for this establishment and most are of good experiences, but some...exhibit a sarcastic and condescending and even rude attitude of those running this company including employees towards patrons. This is not New York City ladies this is Milford New Jersey.
It is so unfortunate all this had to happen. It is shocking no regrets were voiced at all from the owner...none. I'd give zero stars...
Read moreThe points given are for the food and the lack of points were taken off due to baring witness to employee shaming. I went on 1/24 for the first time. A customer came in and asked for a correction to a sandwich. The person in charge started yelling at the staff, eventually calling out to the person by name who took the order stating what they did wrong, what they need to do to better....very AWKWARD! Not to mention a trainee who was very sweet looked terrified asking me about my order after this happened. I wanted to hug her and say it’s going to be okay! I’ve worked in coffee shops and restaurants for 15+ years and NEVER experienced this unless behind scenes. My partner and I were cringing as it occurred and he knew I was very upset at watching this happen. Lets just say this did NOT feel easy like a Sunday afternoon for the customers or employees (who all appeared to be kids). The food was delish so I might go back at some point, but morally what went down was the exact opposite of how young people should be trained or how ANY employee should be treated. Word of advice: people make mistakes, your a biz in Milford NJ....,and screaming at kids makes you look really...
Read moreI understand that this shop has a new owner... The bagels are NOT bagels anymore. What we got (a large assortment) was an underbaked pale, soft outermost crust... essentially a very dense BREAD with a poor crumb with very little gluten development. Pich some of the inside of these bagels and you get a compressed, gluey mess between your fingers. There was barely any color and no crunch in the crust. It seems that little or no liquid malt is used in this recipe, which is used to give that distinctive bagel color and taste. IMO, it seems they aren't using a quality, high gluten bread flour--a necessity for bagels. The overall taste is very chebwey and dense, like a low quality deli bread... So dense that you'd want to scoop out the middle before making a sandwich. Be aware, these will leave you feeling full and digestion will be difficult. Trust me... These are nothing like a good quality bagel. Very sad change for what used to be a good...
