I have been supporting Toshi's restaurants for decades. Best teriyaki chicken in the Seattle area. The chicken is juicy and flavorful with a light char. The sauce is better than any other in the Seattle area with a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. The coleslaw is crunchy and tasty without an excessive amount of sauce on it. The rice is not overcooked as is frequently the case at other teriyaki restaurants. The menu is very limited and it is not unusual to walk in and find they are out of all entrees except for one. The hours are also very limited. They are open only a few days during the week (never on weekends) and only at lunch time for a few hours, after which they close and open again for a few hours at dinner time. Good luck with trying to call in an order. There are several more restaurants in the area with the same name and most seem to be in the 425 area code and have women with a limited command of English who answer the phone. You can ask over and over again if you are calling the Mill Creek restaurant and can be told Yes, Yes. Don't believe them. If you want food from the Mill Creek restaurant, go there in person and order your food. Otherwise, you could be placing an order at a different restaurant that is miles away. The service at the Mill Creek restaurant is the worst I have experienced at any teriyaki restaurant. Certainly, not the polite behavior anyone who has been to Japan has experienced. The woman who is usually at the register has become rude and unfriendly. In the early years, after they opened at this Mill Creek location, she was a little guarded but still somewhat friendly. I don't know what happened to her but after COVID hit, she was outright rude and hostile. I don't appreciate having my order tossed at me or to have her rush from behind the counter in an intimidating manner to grab a business card from my hand after she handed it to me. Watch your credit card statements because the system they use may charge you for other people's orders. In one case, I was charged for at least two meals when I ordered only one. The restaurant is very small, has no tables (removed during COVID), but the facility seems to...
Read moreI am a very picky eater, and am very confident in saying that Toshi's Teriyaki Grill is the best Teriyaki Chicken restaurant in TOWN! Since this is the best Teriyaki Restaurant in town, I highly recommend calling ahead of time to place your order. During peak business hours, orders can get backlogged and can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes. On some of their busiest days, they even run out of food, so make sure to call ahead!
What separates Toshi's from their competition, is that they grill their meat fresh! Other competing teriyaki restaurants pre-grill their meat, and then do a flash-grill to save cooking time. There are no short-cuts taken at Toshis! If you want extra juicy, char-grilled, and tender teriyaki chicken, Toshi's is the place to be!
Also, I highly recommend the beef STEAK teriyaki. Most other teriyaki restaurants offer a thinly sliced and tough texture beef meat, but Toshi's tenderizes and freshly grills their TENDER BEEF STEAK CHUNKS!
Although I am very upset when I'm unable to order Toshi's when they run out of food, I am very thankful and blessed to experience such amazing food when I am granted the opportunity to! I will continue to support this business and recommend Toshi's in Mill Creek to all my fellow Teriyaki Enthusiasts! This is a Philchelin star restaurant! I just realized that I didn't include a photo. LOL. I couldn't wait, and already ate the meal. IT IS THAT GOOD!! I'lll post a photo after...
Read moreI've been living here for a decade now and only recently found out about this place. When moving here from Hawaii, I've seen so many teriyaki restaurants around this county. I couldn't believe it. It's compared to seeing every Starbucks around each corner.
Teriyaki is different here compared to Hawaii. I had to get used to it. The taste was different and they give actual salad and no mac salad. 99% of the time, when you eat at a teriyaki restaurant, it's owned by Koreans. You'll never see a Japanese owner.
To my surprise, Toshi's Teriyaki is owned by the original owner and he's Japanese. I found it about this place from people I follow on Yelp and seen many Toshi's locations. I figured to look them up and find out further informant about their business.
He is renowned for the teriyaki trend in Seattle and has been doing this for over 40 years. So I made a trip down to Mill Creek to try his teriyaki.
He has a cute shop and a simple menu. I love it. I get overwhelmed by other places with too much options. I order his teriyaki chicken plate and wait. I get my order and excited to try the first bite. To my surprise, it's the best teriyaki that I've had out of many that I've eaten at. It's very close to the teriyaki back home in Hawaii. Why did it take so long for me to find good place! Lol. I'm very happy to finally know about this restaurant. Next thing to try is...
