The wonton noodle soup honestly I felt like rivaled the flavors and textures or the wonton noodle soup I've had in HK. The egg noodles were nice and thin and cooked to perfection not one bit soggy, soup was delicious, savory with just the right amount of white pepper and piping hot. The wonton itself had fresh skin and the filling was so good! Pork without any chewy bits and crisp snappy shrimp filling. The curry beef brisket was wonderfully seasoned and pretty good also not spicy at all so my mom who doesn't eat spicy was able to enjoy it also. We ordered the cucumbers also which had a touch of spice to them and were crisp and well seasoned. The pan fried chive dumplings were plump and had fresh veggies and seafood and meat in them. We really enjoyed this and ordered an extra portion. The choy sum was pretty basic, nothing especially stand out there but nothing wrong with it either. I didn't ask but would have been nice to have chili oil on the table. Oh the pork belly dish had nice flavors to it also. We live walking distance and would...
Read moreUnfortunately, this place was a disappointment. The signature wonton noodle is not even close to the authentic ones. The wontons are just pork meatballs with similar filling as the shu mai you would get from a dim sum restaurant. The noodle wasn't soggy but it's not even close to the authentic taste. The noodle soup here probably meets the average/slightly below average wonton noodle soup standard in the Bay Area. I really wish we can have better wonton noodle soup in the Bag Area The beef brisket curry rice was also just ok because the curry was kinda bland and the tendon and beef brisket were not tender enough.
Service was nice (albeit staff being very junior/inexperienced) but all the food including the black sesame paste was below average. Will not return for sure.
I am from Hong Kong so I know what Guangdong style is like and this place is definitely not meeting the...
Read moreWe ordered: potsticker 20/10 (so good and fresh!!) wonton noodle 8/10 (becuz it’s 碱水面, I expected some bitterness inside, but sometimes too bitter, maybe they can wash the noodle better after cooking it? Other than this, soup, vege, wonton, the texture of the noodle is 10/10) 芝麻糊,双皮奶,龟苓膏:20/10 (the best I have ever had in the US, I can taste the fresh ingredients inside)
I like how I don’t taste any msg in their food. Everything just tastes like what it should be.
I am Cantonese, I would not judge how “authentic” it tastes as this is in the US, preserving the original taste of ingredients without excessive seasoning/marinate is more rare and precious to me. I can definitely taste the heart and effort they put in their food.
Will definitely...
