I have known this diner for a long time. I was happy to hear that the owner retired, BUT... I was completely horrified to bring my best friend, my sister, to have dinner and we were served in Styrofoam and plastic. WTH? The taste of the food was okay. The service, what it was served on and what it looked like was awful. I cannot believe I paid almost $50 for someone to bring us a Styrofoam container, a SMALL plastic container and little plastic (go home) tubs for the soup. The restaurant was freezing. Every time someone opened the door, we got a BLAST of the icy air from outside. We had to fill our own drinks and the only thing anyone at the restaurant did was bring us our food. We had to go to the counter to order, no one came to take it. The soup was luke warm. The cream cheese wontons were ice cold. The fried shrimp were cold and chewy. The onions on the teriyaki chicken were almost raw (barely saw a second on the hot plate) and there were waaay to many (looks like they used the onions as filler). The portion of noodles to chicken was not balanced. The Mongolian beef was semi-warm, but the portion was so small that I (someone that doesn't eat a lot) could eat the whole thing. However, it was cold enough that what little sauce was around it was turning into gelatin which turned me off completely. I had 2 strips of beef and then stopped eating. Even the ham fried rice was served I 1 take-out container for both of us. How do you split 1 container between 2 people that live in different places?
Now, I will say, it has been a while since I've been to Dragon Diner. In fact, the last time I was there the owner/manager was there.
I, however, will not be going back!
I hope that Dragon Diner is better with the take-out. That seems to be the bulk of your business as there was only 1 other person that actually was eating in the restaurant. I did feel like employees were more concerned with the take-out orders than anyone in the restaurant. After our food was delivered to our table, NO ONE came back to check on us.
Truly, A VERY, VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTING...
Read moreCan't go more than a couple of weeks without getting a great meal here. Within the last couple of visits (take-out usually being the only option), realized they had brought back dine-in. So, one of our last visits we opted for Dine-In. Not exactly as it used to be, before the Pandemic. Pretty much take-out boxes, with "picnic" paper and plastic supplies, at a table or booth. If anything, it's a start to returning to pre-Pandemic. Dine-In "was" dining in, and they always do excellent take-out. They have been open through the start, well before the start, of the Pandemic, and with the quality and portions of food selection, will probably be, open for many years to come. Favorites are always the Dinner A, Low Mein, House Special (sometimes not visible on the menu, but it includes; beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp. Whereas, usually you get one choice of as your protien). My usual eating partner usually flips between the House Special and Chicken. Another usual menu selection, also sometimes not visible on the menu, is, the Sampler Platter for Two. The Sampler comes with two cheese won-tons, paper wrapped chicken, sliced pork, eggroll, and fried shrimp, with portions for two. Dine-In used to have the Sampler come to the table in a decorative "lazy susan" with a small "hibachi" style barbeque in the center to re-heat/BBQ any of the selections, but it currently only comes to the table packaged as to-go styrofoam containers (not exactly back to "pre-pandemic" currently). Final Word, you can't go wrong with Dragon Diner. The food is excellent, portions are well worth the price, they have always kept up their menu selection through the Pandemic, and even though the Dine-In isn't as it used to be, both the Dine-In & Take-Out provide equal quality and portions. My "Go To" for...
Read moreI’m not one to write negative reviews, yet here we are. I’ve written positive reviews on this page before but I can’t shake my last experience. Over the weekend I called in a to go order while driving to the restaurant. The host taking the order asked me to hold and took an order of someone before me that I could hear. It not only was an order for over $300 but it took 10 minutes before she got back on the phone and by that time I was already in the parking lot. She stated it would take 25 minutes to cook. Guess what I ordered? Two containers of Lo menu noodles. Nothing on them. PLAIN NOODLES. She said that they had to complete the huge order first. I politely asked why they couldn’t just hurry and stuff the containers with the noodles already made and give it to me which would’ve taken less than 2 minutes. Still a no. She was even prepared to give me my money back. When this restaurant is open for dining, there are a dozen seats to be filled but if someone had a huge order like that and I came and sat to get plain noodles, it would’ve been out in no time. The only reason I waited was because they are my daughters favorite. We get home and they are burned. They had plenty of cooks in the kitchen. I get that if I ordered a whole meal or several meals, 20 minutes sounds reasonable. Not for a container of plain noodles. Customer service has declined since Covid in my opinion and I will be going elsewhere...
